      It is not US Soccer.

The Timbers are picking up the tab this year. Next year that subsidy will go away. DA will be with Westside and players will go back to paying for travel just like the other
      Westside teams
It's not your local neighborhood club, they ask you to cover everything and then collect from other members to fund the talented kids on your team who refuse to pay, laughably called a 'club scholarship'.

The only true club National/Regional level DA program in Oregon rests with the MLS & NWSL Timbers/Thorns, you already knew this and you know 'they' cover the costs of the talented kids they select.

It's refreshing to read your posts, you play stupid very well.

The top girls will wander away from GDA.

US Soccer branded sweatpants, visor and clipboard are always a warning sign, like the guy at the end of the bar with gold chains and a 80's mustache.

US Club Soccer has this space in the market, tough to knock them off that perch.

At least the FC P & XF clubs try to escape this brand (US Club) and wear a DA patch for a few years hoping it can wipe the taste you describe.

I was asking you who you thought "they" was because a lot of people incorrectly think it is US Soccer. People think the DA (or US Soccer) is covering this cost.

You have the correct answer which is the Portland Timbers/Thorns. "They" are going to transfer the Thorns to Westside Timbers. Now it is going to be Westside Timbers/Thorns. This now becomes back to your local neighborhood club and the cost model will be similar to other Westside teams. Timbers Academy will stay with Portland Timbers because it is mandated by the MLS to have an academy.

"US Soccer can mandate all they want, but the only real leverage that they have with players is there position to invite kids to national camp."

...then why were US Soccer scouts/coaches seen at the recent ECNL showcase in Houston? Clearly they are looking for talent outside of the GDA as well. Just as colleges will scout GDA games, US Soccer will scout ECNL. No one has the exclusive for either.

So you're saying they(Thorns DA) are still being funded going forward.

Thanks for posting this on the forum full of so much misinformation.

                That's awesome.

Same reason US Soccer Scouts were seen at USYS Far West Regional league games in Seattle. Same Scouts were seen at USYS Regionals & Nationals. Many have been spotted at USYS National league games.

They can go to whatever events they want. They are only guaranteed to be at DA events.

                  Hope that makes sense.

That was a pretty naive response. US Soccer is promoting the DA and want the top players to play in DA. US Soccer controls who gets called into camps.

Didn't say only DA kids will go to camp. The DA players will definitely have an advantage and that is some leverage for playing DA.

You should read some of the press releases from US Soccer as it applies to youth national events. They are bragging about the percentage of kids coming from DA clubs. Of course if you are a stud, you will get called in camp regardless of where you play.

It is an even playing field for college recruiting since it is not run by US Soccer.

Evidently if you pay money to join us soccer league you have a better chance of making a national team?

                      What in the hell?

No wonder soccer is failing in this country.

Us soccer scouts are old bags from your local area who don't even know what they are doing anymore.

You just described the epic fail of US Club Soccer's girls league (ECNL). They were the pipeline to all the youth USWNT and in just the last 5 years we have become irrelevant on the youth global stage, basically also rans. Something had to change, US Soccer created the DA to combat the 'showcase' combine, cattle call model. Kudos to US Soccer!

US Soccer is terrible at development. Look at the disaster of USMNT. They are free during the World Cup if you need your lawn mowed.

Is there any chance you’ll ever get a life and stop posting the same thing over and over again. And stop responding to your own posts. And stop being a loser in general.

Look, US Soccer has admitted all the mistakes they have made. They want to get better. Unfortunately they are struggling to find people who understand development of youth which is vastly different from putting together an all star team developed elsewhere. It’s hard to find professionals knowledgeable in youth development.

Hopefully they get their act together. I think the World Cup debacle really took the air out of the federation and hopefully they can bounce back.
