Leg-A-Z

Accepted teams and brackets have been posted.

Congrats to FCF and WFF for earning a berth in the top bracket (Championship).

ACYS is in the second bracket (Elite), along with imposter Leg-A-Z (who are going to get their ass handed to them-they are in WAY over their performance level. I would have thought their poor showing at Disney would have demonstrated that (0-3 with a -4 GD in the second tier).

Clay got stuck in third bracket (Superior), but they should be switched with Leg-A-Z.

Futsoc Futalan and Treasure Coast United are in the bottom two brackets.

Here's the problem, they coopted the Gotsoccer profile for last year's U19 team (which WAS a good team), less than 1/3 of the old team remains. This "stolen valor" means they get placed in higher brackets and get better college coach exposure than teams that have EARNED their rankings. Then they get their ass kicked (like at Disney). College coaches recognize that they suck, and then they discount the performance of the teams they play against (because they are not playing against talent).

Why would LEG AZ even want to go to the tournament? 99% of recruiting is done by March. They will obviously get whooped in all three games. And, it’s 10 hour trip plus the expense. Seems senseless.

State Cup

So, the accepted teams list is out for U19B (99B). If you don't think this is anything but a money grab by the pimps at FYSA, consider this:

-There are THIRTY FIVE teams in this age group. Most are crap, and the top two teams in the state aren't even playing.

-You will see forfeits in the group play when crap teams are out of it after the first weekend and they will not be able to field a team. This is the fault of FYSA and the clubs for entering scrub teams into the tournament.

-Why, especially at this age group where the boys lose interest in playing games as graduation approaches, would a club enter their A and B teams?
***ACYS
***Azurri-whose B team isn't even ranked
***TBU
***Weston-whose A Team team is ranked 23rd

-Outside of the B teams of these clubs, FYSA has no business taking money from these scrub teams:
***Kendall Reserve (ranked 28th), sporting a 3-9-3 record this season
***Wellington Wave (ranked 37th), sporting a 3-9 record (including a 12-2 loss)
***Plantation (ranked 95th, 1-3-2 record
***Celtic (ranked 57th)
***Clermont (not even ranked on GS, 42 on YSR), undefeated in GCFYSL League with wins over the Villages (120th in the state on YSAR) twice and tied Clermont U18.
***Davie United ranked 30th), 6-6-2 and 8th in FSPL.
***St. Pete Raiders (ranked 40th) 5-6-2 record
***Venice (ranked 89th) 3-2-3 in the always competitive USA League where they are currently 5th. The four teams above them? NONE of them applied to State Cup. Like Clint Eastwood says, "A man's gotta know his limitations."
***Treasure Coast United, (ranked 71st), 1-3-2. Disney Q, they were 0-2-1 against scrub teams
***Miami Springs (ranked 125th), 0-4-1 in SFUYSA League play
***Miramar United Red, yes, they are ranked 5th in the state, but no way in hell this is the same team. Their record is 2-8-4, at Disney they were in the Championship bracket with TEN brackets (40 teams) above their level and they went 0-3 with a 1-9 GD. IN FSPL they are NINTH with a 1-4-3 record and -8 GD.

Take these teams out (15) and you have 20 reasonable entrants. Throw out 4 more teams and make it a clear Round of 16 playoff system.
***Tampa Rangers (ranked 35th), 5-5-2
***Leg-A-Z (ranked 4th, but only because they misappropriated points from last year's U19 team) 6-9-2 record
***PBG (ranked 14th), 4-5-1 and 7th in FSPL
**A (ranked 15th) but a record of 0-7-2 outside of some 1 goals wins in the Disney Q. IT showed at the Disney Showcase when they went 0-2-1 with a 0-6 GD in the second tier bracket.

Cutler Ride won the tournament, but lost some serious face with laughable performances in the group stage. They squeaked out 1 goal wins against SF Elite U18, ranked 150th in the U18 age group and Leg-A-Z's "B" team in U19 (ranked 88th in Florida), and could only muster a draw against Wellington (ranked 40th in the state).

Then they blew up PBG in the finals 7-0, but big deal. PBG was, perhaps, over-confident as their entire bracket was U18 teams. PBG had a cake walk to the finals but got punched in the mouth and never got back up. And face it, PBG is a joke. They are currently 7th in a watered down FSPL without Clay, ACYS FCF, or WFF.

If Cutler Ridge gets 200 GotSoccer points for the win I'll be surprised.

The most overrated team so far this year... Chargers U19 DA. They are not even the best team in Tampa.
