Originally posted by Unregistered View Postow's forced to use parent coaches. whether they are good coaches or not is irrelevant. the conflict of interest is the issue. despite being a respected club, this is a black mark on the program.
- A coach still drunk the next morning at a u-12 tournament game (I've seen it)
- A coach skirt chasing through his team (no need to elaborate on this one)
Both of the above are probably more common these days than a dad coaching a premier team. And certainly more in the "black mark on the program" category. Though I've seen both glossed over by the clubs in my day.

From one of the older threads (no longer available) covering the FSAS+ informational meeting about ECNL, it was reported/rumored here that the U14 Connecticut Freshman problem (where half the U14 team rosters are unavailable because they are freshman, but still forced to play their ECNL schedule against the other ECNL teams who don't have the same restrictions) had been solved. The rumor was that the ECNL had agreed to move all U14 games next season to follow the end of the high school season.
Well...didn't happen.
ECNL schedules are out and the u14 ECNL teams have 9 games before Thanksgiving.
Time to start scrounging 8th grade players from those B & C teams to get you through.
