Use of the word "blame" in the topic of this thread implies that there is something bad or wrong with transferring. What's the problem with changing institutions to find a better/less expensive/more appropriate fit?

1) do a better job picking the school vs the soccer, so if soccer falls apart it's still ok?
2) once in don't want to leave friends, teammates etc? Boys do seem less emotionally attached generally speaking
3) do a better job picking the level of soccer that is right for them?
4) have less intense competition for their spots because there's more programs and fewer international players vs men's?
5) A bit of all of the above/we'll never really know
None of it will ever be perfect. Minds get changed, mistakes get made. If a student decides to transfer all you can hope is that they end up in a better situation, be it academics, sports or just general happiness.

I think a lot of it has to do with money as well. Women's teams usually have more money (more scholarships) so on average each player usually gets a little bit bigger piece of the pie then the men's teams. If a female is getting 50% versus a male getting 25%, it's an easier decision for the male to transfer without it dramatically affecting his financial situation.

But you should look to see if the programs your kid is applying to have a lot of roster churn (you can look up old rosters and track players). If there are a lot of players that don't make it could be a sign of potential trouble

It’s the coaches’ fault. They play your kid right off, hoping for a miracle. When they observe a few flaws, they quickly dash next season to the next recruiting class or a transfer figuring the bird in the bush is better. Rarely is.

Club soccer. Everyone wants to take credit for sending x player to this or that school in order to market for the next generation

A good parent is not only very involved but also involved for the right reasons and not afraid to stand their ground. McDonald's always has room for a good fry cook if Johnny doesn't like it.

Is the transfer wire public? Would like to know which schools have a higher than normal rate of players transferring out. Would also like to know which schools tend to favor transfers in over freshman/sophomores.
