What I am reading you are looking at about $10000 per year for a kid to play a hobby 😂 ridiculous .
For some girls, soccer can help them get into a top school or help out with financial assistance. The ECNL and GDA formats make it very efficient for college coaches to scout and they get more bang for their buck going to these showcases.
To each his/her own. Just telling you the benefits of ECNL & GDA. Crossfire has a history of sending players to top D1 programs and schools. Last year's class had 2 players go to Harvard and 1 to Columbia. Playing soccer at these schools certainly helped with admissions at the prestigious school.
If you are happy going to a regional school then I would agree that you don't need the ECNl and GDA platform. UW and WSU are great schools.

But those 3 players went to private school since pre-k
and elite private high schools. I am guessing min $250K+ in
private school tuition and in addition to travel soccer.
Soccer was the tip that pushed them over to get accepted
to Ivy, but the foundation was built on money and privilege.
Not knocking them, but saying that this is not reality for
most people.
