Not all of the clubs on the list are DA / ECNL, some play in NYCSL NPL and / or EDP or they have B, C teams they need a home for past U12. So I would imagine the mix of teams would change post U12 as needed.

CT has CCSL which is lots of different clubs and ages; some DA clubs have their younger teams in it. Not as many older teams. It basically pushed out the old state soccer organization CJSA.

The Insider
It is exactly the same concept as NEP. Start a league, have prominent club reps sit on that leagues board, attract other clubs and absorb their members.
NEP has monopolized soccer in New England and small clubs are in danger of losing their identity. The leagues decisions, primarily regarding who gets access to NPL, forces small clubs to sell their soul and ultimately become a satellite branch of an existing NPL club.
US Club Soccer essentially wants to emulate that in NJ. For the good of the game? The players? I think not.
In New Jersey the reality is very simple. PDA, Cedar Stars, Match Fit and STA create a league that is basically a shark tank where they can recruit the other clubs players. The bait is the price.
Anyone who understands youth soccer in NJ knows that the likes of PDA and Match Fit have built their brand on player recruitment. While they develop players they are not renown at the younger ages and this is a way for them to catch the players in their net early.
Any club entering into this would be foolish to do so. To save a few hundred dollars in the short term they risk losing membership and/or their identity in the long term.

Unlike New England, which is largely tied to one metro (Boston), New Jersey gets naturally split between New York to the north and Philadelphia to the south. This new league joins north and south Jersey clubs. It’s ultimately a good thing.

Mid Atlantic and FL are doing a similar u12 pre DA thing. I wouldn't be surprised if other regions do something similar. USSF gave up on that age after just a few years, but clubs want to keep it going. Clearly they see a benefit- part financial, part developmental
