    Futal training???

DAP parents what has your club done to prepare for the Futsal showcase? We learned that it is a USSF requirement to train minimum 2 times a week futsal specific training in Months of January and February. Apparently 75 players for YNT scouted durning last years futsal period. At the U12 age this futsal regional event is the only chance to showcase beyond weekend games. Our team has not been training much for futsal and seem that our boys are not being properly prepared for a required and significant USSF event.

Certainly wouldn't be the first time a DA club didn't follow the regulations

I'm guessing your son wasn't picked to go?

I suggest asking your coach why they aren't following the rules.

From what I know about the u12 event and some of the clubs clubs involved, many are leaving behind 6 or so players. Simply cannot accommodate rosters larger than 8-9 per team. If in fact your son is going and you do not feel he's prepared, again, ask the coach. If he wasn't picked to attend and you ask why, just make sure you're prepared for the answer.

Futsal is a waste of time and not soccer. Players learn too many bad habits and what skills they do learn don't transfer to the really game.

That goes a lot to explain your post. Good to hear your son's club finally listened to your suggestion. Heading bowling balls worked well for you.

I'll tell Ronaldhino and Neymar that all those many hours with the futsal ball they played with when young was nothing more than wasted youth.

While I'm no fan of USSF, I do agree with the inclusion of futsal. It's just one of many ways to develop skills. It's also a fun, different way to play which is always a good thing. This whole thing gets too friggin' serious sometimes.

That joke was taken yesterday. More proof that no one reads more than the last page of posts on this site

Futsal is all about speed of play, using skills in tight spaces. If you don't think this translates to the full-sized field, your soccer IQ is pretty low.
