Games & Thrones: ECNL vs. Girls DA cold war rages

    http://www.soccerwire.com/blog-posts...old-war-rages/

Fairly balanced reporting and good summary of events. Girls DA looks even more ludicrous when you see it laid out this way.....

"But the league-to-league competition that begins in the fall looks likely to be a lot more balanced now than it did a few months ago. And with the Girls Development Academy looking vulnerable in several major markets at present – Texas and the Southwest in particular – it’s far from a sure thing that the best players will flock to the federation’s offering across the board. Which could quickly put youth national team coaches in an awkward position: Pick the best players in the country, or only the best players in the Girls DA?"

To cover say pick the best in the country! Majority will be DA once it gets established.

They will only pick from DA. If the girls don't flock to DA and ECNL still has life it will make the US DA folks ticked so as a way to stick it to ECNL I bet not a single ECNL player is on the national team rosters going forward.

"The USSF has done itself no favors with its lack of a clear, charismatic point person for the Girls DA to date. April Heinrichs is the fed’s technical director for the girls side, and has generally been the public face of the Girls DA: doing media availabilities, being quoted in press releases and so forth. Yet multiple sources tell SoccerWire that she’s had little to no involvement in the actual nuts and bolts of getting the new league off the ground."

That's the reason that Heinrich's is not a clear, charismatic point person for Girls DA - she has little to no involvement in the actual nuts and bolts. She knows she's a puppet whose getting played and so she can't endorse it enthusiastically!

There will be exceptions because US Soccer wants to win. uS Soccer told parents at a meeting that they will scout everywhere. DA is not accessible and affordable to every player.

Neither is ECNL for that matter.

I think top players will be heavily pressured to join GDA with that NT invite being dangled in front of them. GDA can't cover all areas and won't get all the top players they want. However I think they'll stop taking from outside GDA just to send the message. If they don't and still take even a few ECNL players then families will see top players can tell USSF to f' off

ECNL is toast. In a few years it will just be another "alphabet soup" league gone by the wayside and the snake oil salesmen will need to come up with another way to bilk parents.

The line of players getting their excuses ready for when their teammates ask why they are not playing DA is growing. "I got asked but said no" 😉Right👌Got it.
