Can't face the facts that the Timbers / Thorns / Alliance is the biggest scam and sham ever foisted on the unsuspecting Lemmings.

They actually think the Thorns Academy teams and players are "elite" (please don't laugh too loud) despite struggling in low-level competitions like Beaverton Cup.

They actually think that the Thorns putting all their focus on the California Thorns academy teams is a good thing for Oregon girls (please don't split a side laughing too hard).

They actually think that Timbers ODP is something more than a straight money grab for Peregrine, despite the monumental failures at the recent ODP Championships (starting to hurt laughing so hard, isn't it?)

They firmly believe wearing the Timbers Alliance patch on their jerseys actually makes them better players despite clear indication that Alliance clubs are weaker now than they were 4 years ago.

They actually think Timbers Alliance and Thorns Academy put players into college soccer despite the clearly documented facts that the ECNL clubs put more kids in college soccer every year than all Timbers/Thorns clubs combined.

Just how does a Timbers Lemming become so delusional? Are they all made to drink the special GW Kool-Aid when they sign up? Do they really self-select for low IQ?

TA parent and I'm sad to say I agree with most. I would add how delusional the administrators of thorns academy are, saying that TA clubs "unanimously support" sending their "best" to thorns academy and then having academy teams entered in OYSA league and TA tournaments like Beaverton. Can't quite figure out if they are lying or they are THAT stupid.

They don't get credit because when the girls commit, college coaches tell them to play ECNL for the rest of high school to get ready for the faster pace of college soccer. Fact. So when they have their official signing day they are considered an ECNL recruit even though they may have only played for FCP or CU for a year or so.

So true. The irony is most girls playing on the ecnl teams are NOT developed by FC or Crossfire. Most of those girls start at the club closest to home and spend several years developing at a TA club or many of the other local clubs, some do start at these clubs. If you analayze each ECNL roster very few players got their start at that ECNL club.

Truth. And the two ECNL clubs aren't looking to develop players at u15, 16 etc. They are looking to get those players recruited. I think both of those clubs do as good of a job developing at younger ages as any other club. But girls quit or get injured or move. And they need to be replaced with girls who are already developed. So it works out - ECNL teams get developed players, and players who want to have the benefits of ECNL to get ready for college have that playing opportunity. Win win. Remind me what thorns academy will do for their players again? Besides give them bragging rights over their former TA clubs?

While it's true that about 40% of the girls on ECNL teams start at other clubs, in most cases it's not true that they were "developed" at those clubs. Most are simply very athletic and were able to dominate in the Timbers bootball world. Once they move to ECNL at 13 they start to get proper training and some of them improve dramatically. Others, like the "Salem Superstar" find that they are too far behind with no hope of ever catching up so they opt out after a year of riding the pine.

So why don't all those girls stay at their Timbers Alliance clubs and keep getting that world-class development you think they are getting? There is a one-way movement of players in Oregon, and it's not TO the Timbers Alliance clubs. There must be a reason the movement's not two-way, right? Maybe you should try to figure out what that reason is and then, perhaps, the light bulb will finally go on for you...
