    What happened to SCP?

I keep reading about the golden years of SCP, when it was run by dikranian. What happened there, how and why did it fall to where it is today?

look at the coaching, look where they play, look at the state of affairs at the bubble. Who wants to spend time in that bubble? Dikranian is a guy that shows up and hands out flyers. Not a lot of charisma these days

SCP had a few very few good teams When RK and JO and BD and OQ were coaching teams they were very good. But they had to pull from out of the South Central District to get competitive teams. Back when SCSU was a national power on the men's side and JO had the up start women's program SCP was good. But once coaches left and they could not bring in top coaching the club fell off the soccer planet. DH and BD had a good run and RK as well.

Losing DA certainly didn't help. It didn't do much to help it's image and the club seemed in disarray a year leading up to it (mine tried out there about that time and it was readily apparent)

Yes. Where would you be reading about golden years. SCP is just fine.

SCP used to be a much more dominant club in the state not that long ago; even had DA. Now it fields perfectly fine state teams but all the better players leave by U13 or so

When my daughter started in premier, CFC Wolves and SCP were the top clubs in the state. What a difference ten years makes.

Too many premier options now. Lot of paying customers that are spread out with about 5 clubs.

In general options are good for consumers. In youth soccer not all the options are good ones. Also makes it tough for clubs to survive. It's more important than ever to offer a superior product for whatever niche you're aiming for, find ways to stand out. A niche may be smaller but still very healthy and profitable. Too many clubs overshoot and fail miserably

It was a failure of management and leadership. Lots of personal agendas coupled with incompetence.

SCP was on top of CT soccer for many years. It is now a disaster. It's unlikely they will recover anytime soon. They are trying to rebuild their younger teams but they are struggling to compete with town teams. They are playing their younger groups in the indoor leagues in the bubble and they are no better than their town opponents.

Wasn't there an angry guy with a pony tail who used to coach girls' soccer at SCP? Who was that?

He is changing his image; he has a man-bun now.
