        Good guy, tough recruiting situation.

Why is it a tough recruiting situation? St A's is a great school. Are they going down to D3 after all? Limited budget?

Heard Assumption hired their coach. Any news on Saint Anselm or finalists?

Just one of many small school choices in the area. Need to stand out to attract students and players. If the coach isn't good or isn't liked then that will always be a "tough recruiting situation" no matter what school

Massive budget problems. Men's team had to rent their own vans a couple of years ago.

At $52K a year, that's inexcusable. They need to figure out their budgeting or dip into their $122M endowment until they can figure it out.

                    St A's

Jeff bailey will be coaching there soon

Sports isn't always a priority at many schools. And at a small school like that without a big revenue sport (big football or basketball program) to offset $ losing sports (like soccer) then it's tougher to justify running programs at a loss year in and year out. Finally, small things like players' renting buses may hint at bigger financial issues that should be explored - Franklin Pierce almost folded not that long ago as have others.

I think more and more people are starting to question spenfing $50+k on a product that is not elite. Good school but is it worth 2x? Options outside if NE and state schools are all getting more attractive. Athletics at these smaller schools are a big draw. Big chunk of the attendees play a sport. If sports is not a draw things nay get more challenging.

Makes sense. Great coach and is local.

How many D2 sports are money makers?

The issue at St. A's is they have very little money budgeted for soccer scholarships and they do not pay their soccer coaches much. St. A's is a good school. That is their only drawing card right now.

Unless they significantly change their thinking, nothing will change. Their recent lack of performance has nothing to do with the coach. He did what he could with what they gave him.
