I am curious to know the age group. Improving at the same rate? Do you know anything about child development? A kid could be a rock star at u9 and drop off by u15 and vice versa. Let the kid play where appropriate now, and continue to support him or her and foster a positive mindset and work ethic and things could change later. I guarantee in 5 years the dynamics of that particular team will be completely different from now.

Who says the kid is not getting better?

Who says there are not other kids moving faster along the improvement slide than this kid?

Who says the reason for demotion is not due to others getting better sooner?

The coach may very well be doing his or her job. Doing it so well that as all the players improve, some simply improve more than others.

It's a common thing in the high school programs. Player A gets passed by Player B because Player B is hungrier, fitter, more athletic, worked harder in the off-season to improve.....whatever.

Last year's starter is often this year's bench player.

So now the challenge is to win it back.

      Or be a quitter.

If moved from A to B, the kid is simply not good enough. Coaches don't just move kids for no good reason. They want to win games obviously. Some kids work very hard but that may not be enough if the skill is not there. Don't let the A and B title trip you up, it means nothing. You are not necessarily guaranteed anything as an "A" player.
