If they could snag Grant from CU, it would be a huge upgrade

He's out. He can keep his title and pay, but he can't help on the practice field or games. Tough reality
Even if true, Vancouver is only 90 miles away from OSU. Portland is fine. Bend is over 100miles away but that’s about it. I’m sure he’ll follow any necessary rules. Stanford D1 coach, coaches at least one club team so it must be workable.

You folks don't have even one verifiable clue, which explains why you spend thousands on worthless travel leagues for typical Oregon kids that isn't changing any outcomes for college placement.

To wit or dimwits here is the rule:

13.11.2.4 Local Sports Clubs. In sports other than basketball and football, an institution's coach may be involved in any capacity (e.g., as a participant, administrator or in instructional or coaching activities) in the same sport for a local sports club or organization located in the institution's home community, provided all prospective student-athletes participating in said activities are legal residents of the area (within a 50-mile radius of the institution). In all sports, an institution's coach may be involved in any capacity (e.g., as a participant, administrator or in instructional or coaching activities) in a sport other than the coach's sport for a local sports club or organization located in the institution's home community, provided all prospective student-athletes participating in said activities are legal residents of the area (within a 50-mile radius of the institution). Further, in clubs or organizations involving multiple teams or multiple sports, the 50-mile radius is applicable only to the team with which the institution's coach is involved; however, it is not permissible for the coach to assign a prospective student-athlete who lives outside the 50-mile area to another coach of the club. A coach also may be involved in activities with individuals who are not of a prospective student-athlete age, regardless of where such individuals reside. (In women's volleyball and women's beach volleyball, see Bylaws 13.1.7.9 and 13.1.7.10, respectively, for regulations relating to a coach's involvement with a local sports club and the permissible number of evaluation days.) [D] (Revised: 1/10/90, 1/16/93, 9/6/00, 4/25/02 effective 8/1/02, 5/11/05, 7/31/15, 5/1/19)

So any prospective student athletes who live outside 50 miles of the institution can't be involved in a club sport with any institutional coaching staff member.

You’re smoking crack! I know Grant personally. This dude wouldn’t be stupid enough to join the youth soccer world. It’s a waaaay different animal than college soccer. There’s not enough money to throw at him for him to take a youth soccer job

All of these assumptions don’t matter. He has already told the BoD that he will be leaving at the end of this year.

Congratulations to him and best of luck. He’ll be missed. Hope CU can find someone good to replace him. If the Concordia coach is good, perhaps he’ll do it for a year at least, while his son finishes high school and he looks for another head coaching job. Both parties are suddenly in need.

I agree with you, but you never know how one thinks when you are unemployed. A DOC at a soccer club will make more money than a soccer coach at Concordia. A DOC will make more than most college head coaches

So in addition to OSU, KL can become a coach at CFC! Awesome!

(As the crow flies, Salem is only about 32 miles from Cowvallis).

OSU just announced the "hire" of a new volunteer coach. So I doubt they have room for a paid position for Grant which is a shame.

Any other programs hiring? Didn't Hand leave George Fox? Grant is a great coach and it would be nice if he was able to stay in Oregon.

Maybe he'll take over Westside since Cony got the national team futsal coaching gig mentioned here a few weeks ago.

No way I’d go from a 4 year to a doc unless I absolutely needed the money.

Fields, terrible parents, head case coaches, league crap, referee issues, are just a few piles of crap you are having to shovel.

I heard KL will be utilizing the “too young to be considered a student-athlete clause of the rule” and juggling OSU with legally coaching U14 teams and below for CU. Maybe he told the board he is no longer going to be DOC, but still can coach?

He's great with the younger players so this would be a win/win for everyone.
