You will get more of what sells to the majority and not necessarily whats best for the very best.

The decision makers at the USSF are so far removed from what is actually happening on the ground that the rules they make are often out of touch and impractical. I can see why they would not trust the ECNL management
I can see that too but how did they do anything to combat that lack of trust or get what they wanted? Why did they flood the market with a fancy product without the customers for it? They misread the market for their offering by mistake or intentionally but the effect is the same.

USSF should have focused on younger age groups, showing better training leads to better players and a better product.

If kid has been in superior system from u12 to u14 parents and players will be able to make educated decisions about choices and quickly know bullish!t. Instead USSF went for the throat trying to yank older girls out higshool soccer and off well establised strong ECNL programs.

ECNL is no inoccent angel but USSF made huge tactical misstep and hurts a lot players in key college recruiting years and other players have given up precious highschool memories to be a pawn in a ******* contest.

The issue that people seem to ignore is that our country is bigger than all of Europe. It’s impossible to consolidate the talent and keep travel costs down. It’s a far bigger obstacle than people seem to realize. The result is that the leagues get watered down out of necessity. But to your original point, do we need a second national league? Not if the goal is to try and identify the top players for the NT, but if it is to provide more exposure for college to a broader base of kids, then yes. Something else people miss is that the “money maker” teams that every large club has are what enables those same clubs to provide scholarships for talented kids without means. It’s an interesting system, but like the economy, more complicated than it appears at first glance. Everyone thinks they have the answer, but no one does.

Are you also going to install the public transportation infrastructure and space professional clubs 6 miles apart?

              Stick with softball.

regional only events - for most part yes My kid does not need to fly to California or Washington state to learn to play soccer and learn to play it well. Very very wasteful and unnecessary. How many European 14 year old have spent thousands in airfare to learn to play soccer?

That's exactly what needs to happen to lessen the travel and cost burden. It also makes it easier for college coaches - they know most kids will go to school within a half day's drive from home. Flying East coast teams and coaches to the West coast for a meet and greet is insane. Make several regions with their own playoffs. Have one national event with a championship contest for all the regional winners.

Not the poster - do regional events, or maybe combine two regions (example here do NE plus mid Atlantic). Most kids want schools not terribly far from home. If would better match up players and colleges. No more trips from here to FL, CA, AZ.

My point was we already break it down regionally. Any plan needs to be a lot more than that, How about regional leagues, leading to a regional team. then regional tournament. Each region team can be coached by the USSF and then play a tournament. cost to be fronted by the USSF.

USSF isn't spending an unnecessary dime if they can avoid it. They push the burden off to the clubs. even the MLS clubs who don't profit much from youth development

Not true. there are more NT camps and intl matches than ever before. this would be relatively cheap and great PR. a tournament like this would be a huge carrot tom players to get on the national radar. Nike would certainly get involved.

why not . big difference would be selecting players after a full league season
