Correction....
5 minutes and a whole second half to go.
So yes, I would expect any kid looking to get in the game to work her ass off.
The USWNT put Carly Lloyd in the game on Wednesday with maybe 3 minutes and stoppage time left to play. Former best player in the world. Has all the accolades and a certain Hall of Famer. What did she do in the 5 or so minutes playing time she had?
She worked her ass off.
Lesson over.......

There are very few high school coaches getting $7,000 per season. At least not at a public school that plays both football and soccer.
And anyone who coaches high school knows that while you get in the fall, it's a year round job. Hours vary week to week in the off season, but there are a ton of off season activities that coaches must be involved in. Tis the nature of the beast.

Incoming captains have to participate in a leadership development program with the coaches in the spring. Seems to help them all get on the same page and the captains year to year are quite good.
I also know they have to do budgets for equipment, uniforms and stuff like that. They have to get quotes from vendors. There is a lot of planning going on as how you see in tryouts and practices. Looks clearly like a lot of work done in advance.
Plus, they have to keep up their certifications and other stuff.
I know some of this is more "elective", but I think it goes a long way into why our program does well year in and year out. Certainly well before my kid arrived and all the time she has been here.
