Are we going back to graduation year from birth year?

“Rumor has it that US Soccer is considering going BACK to the old method of age determination for players going forward in 2020. What are your thoughts on this ???”

Thanks for screwing us 2021s over again!

Wow. US Soccer might actually do something that would help the sport grow in America. That's shocking, really...

January-April parents are going to be pissed! Meanwhile my September daughter will get to be on a new team and get even more playing time.

        1. It shouldn’t go back to the old date ranges, it should simply go to GRADUATION year like the growing sport of lacrosse. High schools across the country have different start dates. Grad year makes it simply, aligns with college recruiting, and will increase participation. Will also solve the 1/3 of players being “trapped” at 8th/9th and 11th/12th grades.

        2. If USSF do it, ECNL still will but will call the teams by the older birth year to pretend they’re following birth year mandate. If GDA doesn’t switch when ECNL switches, ECNL grabs a ton of market share - starting with all 8th and 9th graders, all juniors and seniors and all fall born kids.

        2. Admit the mistake and improve. Go to grad year and keep ODP and such as birth year.

Uggg. Let me guess..then they will also bail on the gda and we will back to where we started only thousands of players will have been through years of utterly useless destructive disruptions.

This would suck. To have to go through this again.

It’s about time. Changing it in the first place was the dumbest move they ever made, and that’s saying a lot.

I’m not familiar with the sources, how credible is this rumor?

No offense but asking for the credibility of a source on here is humorous!

Only makes logical and business sense to use GRADUATION YEAR! Like lacrosse switched to and lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country. Colleges recruit by GRADUATION YEAR, they don’t care what month you were born nor when your state’s school cutoff is. Graduation year is all they care about so it makes perfect sense. Heard ECNL was switching to grad year to corner 90% of the youth soccer market. If USSF changes, it helps everyone and keeps their GDA alive.

The sooner the better! USSF needs to fix this mess it started. The longer they wait, the more damage is done.

Those who pushed for the change 4 years ago hopefully have been terminated and are working @ 7-11 or Wawa.

This seems like it was a Tab Ramos' baby, and now that he has taken his mental midgetry down to Houston, USSF management thought they should accomplish something to placate the masses.
