    Let's evaluate poor SJS this season

    Football = District Champs
    Basketball = District Champs
    Golf = District Champs
    Hockey = Qtrfinals of D1 North/If they played D3 in CMass they win it all.
    Baseball = District Semis
    Lax = District Semis
    Tennis = District Semis
    Track = Finished #2

    Soccer = Didn't even make the tournament.

    Not bad for a school that is suffering.

      Let's stick to the subject matter folks - soccer-seems some of you have gotten off that point. If you want to talk about SJ and their other sports start a talking someother sport

      With regards to the below for soccer at SJ the questions still lingers. Why ?

        For the millionth time---no coaching.
        The last 2 coaches are not qualified to coach ulittles.
        Even if they have the players the coaches have no idea how to utilize them.
        This fact, not conjecture.

          The facts you give below can be said of any HS not just SJ. Many CMASS HS have had multiple sports like SJ win States, Districts , Semi's etc so do not make it out like you are elitist in all sports as you are not alone in what you accomplished below as said many other HS's have done that. Its just that the T & G makes SJ out as the next best thing since sliced bread, get over yourselves SJ you are just like everone else.

            They will fire the coaches of basket and football if they only make the semis, which translates into a possible 4th place finish.

                Key points from this table:

                1) The high enrollment schools are Algonquin/Wachusett/St Johns. Two of them currently live in the semis as expected.
                2)If you went back to 2009 and back, St Johns lived in the semis and actually collected a few district championships and a state championship. That ended in 2009.

                  When RG became head coach. It went downhill from there.

                    If we are looking at the school size as something to correlate against then you can say where is Shrewsbury in this? They have a higher enrollment than Gonk…. Anyway….I think what it comes down to is they have had some of the horses there but coaching is the difference…. When you look at the StJ record last year they actually went 5-3-2 (.600) vs teams that made districts…. That’s better than North, South, Nashoba, Quabin, Shrewsbury and SH – teams that went to districts. I know you have to be (overall) .500 to qualify for districts but I would have said they were deserving more that some of the teams that made districts. It is what it is….As for this year…. Probably around the same record….. a game or two swing and they qualify for districts and anything can happen….bets of luck to them and the other teams.

                      Or you can add Sutton with there dynasty in Boys and Girls Soccer, Bball, softball and tennis. Boy's soccer will go for 4th State Title this year and will be succeseful no doubt and would no doubt route some of the D1 teams.

                        Sutton is a whole different kettle of fish. A small school/town with a great sports tradition. Occasionally though, the pickerel thinks it can swallow the great white shark. Stay in your pond; you're great there. Leave the ocean to the shark.

                          Sutton played four D1 teams last year and went 0-1-3. But I will gladly give them props for A, scheduling the games and B, for an outstanding program they have there. Would they route some D1 teams..... absolutely.

                              Algonquin and Westborough lost a significant amount of seniors and 9-10 starters ( I believe ). It will be interesting regarding Westborough and what they can do. Algonquin consistently replaces players with more players every year.

                                "Algonquin consistently replaces players with more players every year." What do you mean? Yes, the school fields a team each fall, but they've had a pretty crap record over the past couple of seasons - and the soccer's not good either. Coach's son will be a senior this year, and hopefully after he graduates, KM will go elsewhere so that the program can be restored by a proper coach.
