Individual states cannot restrict the rights of citizens within other states. That is pretty clear within the Constitution. Locking down interstate travel would have to come from the federal level and, I believe, that clearly isn’t coming until 20 January, if then. Hopefully by then, an effective vaccine is being distributed.

I see the issue as “should a local soccer club choose
to act contrary to a state policy, for the benefit of a couple teams, even if it means the state will be less trusting of soccer clubs when they ask for revised policies that will allow the vast majority of people to return to play earlier”? The soccer orgs put a lot of effort into getting the return to play guidelines adopted, and presumably told the state their members would live by them. Shouldn’t expect the state to be particularly receptive the next time they come asking.

Because technically it wasn’t locked down. You could go to Hawaii but you were legally required to quarantine - and they checked! Same thing happening in NY right now. They can go to Jersey but have to quarantine when they get back. Makes the trip pointless. Right now no one is requiring any quarantine in AZ and it’s only advised upon return. Inslee can change that to required if he sees fit to and the trips likely will be off.

Problem is, it works for places like Hawaii and Alaska. It’s doesn’t work for WA. Are you going to tell people that go to ID, OR, or BC for work that they have to quarantine? No way people leaving NY for work in other states are quarantining on return. You get into issues of defining essential vs. nonessential travel and, hate to tell you, but the Supreme Court leans the other way since the last time these sorts of restrictions came to them and it was 5-4 at that point.

As for Trump's operation warp speed? Ironic that Pfizer, who is likely to be the one to the market first didn't take government money. Go ahead and give Trump credit if you'd like. Info. Almost everything indoors is shut down from restaurants to fitness centers to churches. No wedding receptions or real estate open houses. Retailers will be limited to 25% capacity. Sporting activities limited to outdoors, masks required for athletes. Indoor gatherings with people outside of household prohibited, effectively outlawing Family Thanksgiving. Will be effective for 4 weeks from Monday.

Based on how I read the restrictions, no additional changes to current guidance. Ie, it still falls under the guidance based on cases per 100k.
