Forget the amount of tests, forget the positivity rate. Pull your head out of your ass and talk with a doctor or nurse in a hospital - (my kid is). People are dying from Covid in the ICUs. Not from other reasons, from Respiratory failure from Covid. It’s not hype, it’s not Democrats vs Republicans, it’s happening. It was happening before, and it’s happening again. Difference now is they have better treatments and knowledge, yet deaths are higher due to the shear amounts (more recoveries - but higher deaths due to numbers). Take the time and talk with someone working in the ICUs, you’ll gain a lot of clarity - everything is just numbers that can be manipulated any way you want.
These people dying are the ones that would normally die from / with the flu. That is what is happening at my hospital.

It is not a problem. Sure Connecticut has diagnosed more than 13,000 new cases in the last 7 days - about 12% of Connecticut’s total cases since February. It’s no big deal. That’s really only going to mean about 900 folks with long-term medical problems - heart defects, lung lesions, all no big deal. And only about 450 or so more dead folks.

I mean, it’s not like we are doing any Emergency rapid expansion of beds just for covid patients right? Oh - never mind.

Trump last said anything concerning covid on November 9 when he said that Biden wouldn’t do anything regarding covid so you know he is on top of things.

Yesterday, 2,216 Americans died from covid-19 infections. 178,200 more were diagnosed with covid. Trump is on pace to kill 12,000 Americans a week. With Christmas a month away, and if he tries hard to continue to do nothing as he has been doing for months - he should easily be able to kill 310,000 Americans by Christmas. The push will be on then to hit 400,000 dead before leaving office on Jan 20.

How is Trump doing compared to elsewhere in the world? Well, Germany, with a population of about 82 million or a touch more than a quarter of the US population, has had 963,000 cases, and 14,832 deaths since February. Hey, that’s Europe. What about say Canada? Nearby. We share lots of traits with Canadians. Pop. of about 38 million so about 15 percent of the US pop. What are Canada’s numbers? We are probably doing way better. Let’s see - total covid cases to date: 345,000. Deaths; 11,681. So, if Canada were doing as great at defeating covid as the US, it would only have 40,000 dead instead of the 11,681 they have suffered. Hey, wait a second ....
I recommend you go live elsewhere. No one is stopping you. Thank you Trump for the vaccines, therapeutics and DOW 30,000!!!

This kills at least 2-3 times more than flu and lands far more people in the hospital than flu, including more people <65. If you worked at an actual hospital, not a fictional one, you would know that

The problem with your hospital view is that your missing the math. The CDC estimates that flu has resulted in between 9.3 million and 45 million cases each year in the United States since 2010. And that’s with a majority of Americans getting vaccinated. The current estimate of Covid infections in the US is between 60 to 80 million. So sure you may be seeing more patients <65 and more deaths >65 but that’s because there are far more people infected than a typical flu season. You can’t compare the two viruses unless you know the real number of infections.

              Japan.
Has done well to keep CV deaths down around 2,000
Yet more then 17,000 killed them selves this year. In fact, more then 2100 in October alone.
Huge increase this year for suicide. More killing them selves then will die of CV. Cure worse then disease.

Japan already had a suicide problem, one of the higher rates among industrialized nations. Rates will ebb and flow. Japan has not had a restrictive Covid policy for the last several months and only very recently has begun discussing some shutdowns. Their economy is in much better shape than ours Their schools have been open for months but one comment in that link was "my kids aren't getting along"? In other words there more to it then just Covid.

No one's economy is "great" right now, but some are doing better than others. Japan's unemployment rate is at 3% and barely registered a blip during Covid. This graph goes through July but through September the rates were the same

Their economy was doing very well after the spring into the fall, but new CV 19 increases may result in some slowing again, just as it will here. But to them a "huge" number is >2,000 cases a day. We're rocking 180K a day now.

"The bigger immediate threat to growth, however, may be an explosion in virus cases in other countries, said Akane Yamaguchi, an economist at the Daiwa Institute of Research.

The recovery “depends on overseas economies,” she said. “There is downside risk as Europe locks down, and in the United States if the president tightens prevention policies as infections increase.”https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/15/b...ronavirus.html

Hey -- not to worry. Trump has this under control. You know he is working day and night on fighting covid -- making sure everything that can be done is being done. Setting a great example for everyone in personal responsibility, and ensuring that all people are getting medical help and financial help -- hammering Congress to get a good package done. He is on it.

Wait a sec -- He has not said a word about covid since November 11, and that was say, literally, nothing. He has not attended a covid white house group meeting since August.

Not to worry -- it is because everything is great. There are no new covid cases. No one is dying from covid. It is all good. Remember how often we were told covid would magically go away after the election. Has it magically gone away? Let's see.

In the last 7 days in Conn. 137 people died from Covid - the most in a week since last May. But, no one is catching covid anymore right? Oops -- about 11,500 people were diagnosed with covid last week. So -- about 600-800 more Conn. families can count on a merry Christmas this year by getting together with family members to set up and attent, remotely, a nice family funeral service before Christmas. Thanks President Trump.

Come on - I responded to #1782 and this got "censored"

If the dire predictions about the impact of Thanksgiving get togethers and travel hold true Christmas could be very depressing for many more families. I'm very pro science and data but I really hope they're wrong on this one

So if trump told people to wear a mask, they wouldn’t have died?

Does he need to tell you to wipe your arse too?

Ps....they were not diagnosed with covid....they tested positive....very different

Cuomo didn’t go to a covid task force meeting for months. What does that say about him?

Trump is supposed to go on tv every day and give you a body count? What are you looking for exactly. I would like to know, because when the basement boy doesn’t do it, I want to bask in your hypocrisy
