Parents need to demand better coaching

Your decision to put your son on a particular team should be based on quality of coaching, there maybe two or three good ones down here. You invest a lot of money in your kids. You must demand better from your clubs .

So- only sons deserve better coaching? Also, most parents aren’t really sure or capable of knowing what better coaching is. Unfortunately, most see that as wins- losses at early ages and don’t understand development or importance of learning principles and technical early. This is the importance of having qualified and licensed coaches with a solid club who can help provide that for you. Still, even given the above you can still make wrong choices and be less down the wrong path.

We were fortunate enough- or lucky- to somehow make the right choices with our second child after making the wrong ones with our first. The results were very different as well. Hind sight is indeed 20/20.

Coaches need to demand better parents. You’re the reason youth soccer is the way it is.

Coaches with accents are the best, we choose are kids coaches based on their accents.

Most parents did not grow up playing the game and wouldn't know "good coaching" from bad. More importantly, youth soccer should be about the fun, not being trained to be the next Messi. People who are worried that their kid won't get the right coaching and consequently won't be playing on the U.S. national team are just *********s anyways.

you sound like a good candidate to take your son to the local rec soccer association. This is not about fun but winning games and getting noticed by college coaches. If the coach can't help you do that, its time to move on to another team.

rec soccer is a FUN place to be and needs plenty of players. don't forget the orange slices:)

You are all that is wrong with soccer. If college ball was the only goal there wouldn't be hundreds of thousands of youth players out there. We'll never develop a soccer culture if programs only cater to college potential players

You mean paying $1000 to get a daddy coach is not a good decision?

Wrong. Sports are about fun. My kid got into UF because she is smart and gets good grades. Didn't need soccer to get into that or many other schools. See (and I know this surprises you) school is about academics, not being a semi-professional athlete. If your kid was any good he'd be playing professionally now,
