      1. Schedules cluster teams at similar levels.
Going 1-2 playing 3 of the best teams in the country can be a better performance than going 3-0 while playing lesser teams. Of course everyone would rather win, but...

      2. The goal of a showcase is to Showcase Players - coaches substitute without regard for outcome. Yes, JD does make sure all players get fair PT. not true at Nationals but definitely true at showcases

So, the measure of how one fares is really an individual outcome based on performance and exposure to college of her interest. Given the daily Coaches in Attendance email, I would say "Ya, Stars fared well".
Pretty sure there are parents at Stars who do not agree with #2. Especially in the 2003 over-rostered you stay home category.

“you stay home” while harsh is preferable to “fly and don’t play”

The parents need to remember they are all part of a team too. And, the business of club soccer is to get kids showcased to be able to play in college. The showcases that have very little impact on the post season play is where this will typically happen.

I know clubs that would not have some committed players travel to showcases to give the other kids a chance. Most times the committed players were the players that received the majority of the playing time. Taking them out the mix has a significant change on the way the rest of the team plays.

And I get the chirping from the parents that have to pay when they aren't bringing the "a" team, but it is a team sport. And, other kids helped their kids get recruited. Some have short memories.

And, it can be a little mixed up as the rest of the team has to adjust to other kids being plugged in too. This can take a game or two before this happens as these other kids may be playing against high level teams (based on the team playing with the commits that didn't travel) or maybe they don't adjust at all.

Showcases are not about the results; they are about playing a good game and getting seen. Because of this, the leagues should downplay the showcases instead of amping them up. Amp up the end of the year showcases, which are championship games.

Team seemed to do well without the 1 player left out. If you don’t like it, leave. You won’t be missed.

Some are, you just don't know about them - note necessarily this team but others their age. Also, the player might have had personal reasons to stay home.

Usually it is communicated as a courteous kind email. Don’t make any non refundable reservations. In the next week or two I will send out an email who is going. If you don’t get an email then you are not going.

                          that's it?

No talk or explanation to those not going?

You do remember who those players are, right?

You responding to your own posts? (2 anti Stars posts in two minutes) If not, do you really believe that is a legit post on an anonymous forum?

First post; and, I can't tell what's legit and what's not. Maybe you have a little secret sauce you can share?

So this team specifically, not recruited yet were told not to go. Thank you Stars. Don't put a roster of greater than 18 together especially if you have 2 teams in ECNL. That shouldn't be acceptable to any paying parent.
