Believe it or not that used to be a quasi common practice (decades ago) until people finally realized maybe it isn't such a good idea. google it and you'll find other incidents

Quasi common decades ago is one thing, doing it now is ridiculously stupid. I’m perplexed that anyone (in Ridgefield no less) would think it sounded great!

Problem isn't so much the fire risk but contaminating the spoil with that much gasoline. Patch said whoever did it in Ridgefield used 25 gallons and it will cost $50K to clean it up. Stupid is stupid - it transcends zip codes
