But in reality the vast majority simply do not, so you have to operate under that assumption and operate under a cloak of secrecy.
Clubs are all about getting as many kids as possible even if it means fielding a crappy team in the process. It is about $, NOT development. Development is horse*****. Everyone in the game for years knows this is true.

If you happen to be on a top 10 state team, you have struck gold. The rest are just being played for their time and $.

Next time you hear a jack*****$ talk about "development" ask them what they are being developed into.

      Hence all the drama.
Then shame on clubs having tryouts dates which automatically put those who wish to try out for their ECNL teams between a rock and a hard spot.

The coach response in post #54 promotes the player's goal and provides life lessons of commitment and loyalty. For any parent to believe that response represents a threat is troubling.

I've definitely noticed an amplification of stress with all the age change movement. I'll be glad when it's all over
There's way too much drama every tryout season. People should just relax and let the kids go where they want. Totally parent driven.

I disagree - the kids are stressed too. They hear their teammates talking about tryouts, kids missing from practices, they wonder if their team will hold together (especially this year with the age change), they're aspiring for a higher level and what happens if they don't make it? Then if a coach starts making comments such as the OP's, and even more so for a showcase event?

This was from that post - I agree THAT isn't as threatening but it sounds like the OPs coach was much more so and it's troubling that it is a showcase event. If a coach holds no ill will and wishes the player all the best no matter their choice, they shouldn't hold it against them for a showcase. There's too much riding on it and the coach knows it.

Heard through the sideline the coach which threaten the girls was CS of BU u16s. Multiple parents were discussing it at Weston.

                So Sad.
