ECNL in the Tampa Bay area - some things to consider

Three years ago, a buddy of mine and I left a smaller club - he brought his daughter to WFF for pre-ECNL and we went to TBU. We are both deciding what to do next now that TBU got ECNL. We got together for adult beverages to compare notes on our experiences. He brought along a print out of an article “Choosing a club: Key factors to consider” and I brought a note pad. We swiped their comparison list and modified it and tried to focus on ECNL specifically but sometimes you can’t separate ECNL from the Club. Then we had a gentleman’s argument over which club was CURRENTLY doing better (“better” being very subjective) in each area and tagged it with the club name. Those areas tagged with “Tie” means we agreed that both teams were addressing that area about equally (well or poorly). Some we agreed on immediately - some required more adult beverages. FYI.
    Good luck!

Having been in girls soccer in the Bay area for a while I would say this is a pretty fair and balanced treatment of the situation currently. These guys must have completed this before too many adult beverages! However, when looking at things like Direct ECNL League Experience and ECNL Team Travel Logistics, I wouldn't overlook the background of TBU's new CEO, Charlie Slagel. He was CEO at CASL in Raleigh, NC for like 10 years and during that time they implemented ECNL. CASL is now recognized as one of the better run ECNL clubs so they did something right.

I agree. Looking at objective rankings

                U11 WFF 5th TBU 12th
                U12 WFF 12th & 16th TBU 23rd
                U13 WFF 5th. TBU 9th
                U14 WFF 6th. TBU 11th
                U15 WFF 6th. TBU 7th
                U16 WFF 7th. TBU 10th
                U17 WFF 13th. TBU 4th

By objective rankings WFF is better. There is no debate.

Nice try WFF but TBU's staff is better and their new ED is right on point. You don't even have an ED so go TBU.

Steve Rammel is ED and is >>> Slagle. Slagle will either retire or get dementia in the next 2 years. I hear that he self catheterizes already. Put him in an assisted living facility.

WFF has no ED. He is an "executive consultant" and will be turning in his resignation in 2-3 months mark my words.

It's been pointed out many times, on many threads on here, that these rankings are woefully flawed. They depend on "self reporting" so teams whose parents run and pump in their scores after each game will rank out significantly better than those teams where nobody babysits their scores on that site. Click on some of the teams they are doing head to head comparisons with - their scores are 3 years old with nothing updated! If I was a parent trying to decide between clubs I would put zero weight in these bogus rankings.

The two alcoholic dads did a great job in comparing. TBU clearly wins!
