Seriously, even a sausage casing can hold only so much sausage.
Is the sausage casing a reference to west pines or weston?

Definitely the west pines mom. At least some of the weston moms are good looking and in somewhat decent shape.

I can tell you that down here over 5000 dollars in expenses is easily met for a DA parent, and I am selling costs short, it varies on how well your player plays if he is going to all the travel games. Kendall has over 30 players being used in the U16 DA.... so there goes development....
Do people down there really find it necessary to kill ponies & horses for food?

Isn't it funny - you can always tell the people who have never been involved with a DA when they "parrot" the $$$$ talking point. Our DA costs this year (and last year) are very close to what his "club" team cost the year(s) prior to that. At tops...we might spend $200.00 more for DA.

And that is for essentially a solid 10 month season of training/games.

DA is the best level of training and competition you can find out there.
Not including travel, which is substantially more than a typical club team.

Travel is included. There, don't you feel pretty dumb about right now!

The point remains however & the analogy is appropriate in this circumstance. Northwest Missouri State is a great division II team and won the 2015 division II football title.

They probably have a bunch of "daddy's" that fantasize about their kids having a Rudy moment and being able to beat Bama or FSU. It's just a fantasy however!!!

As a poster said above (and I agree with) there are some very good players on club teams that are good enough to play DA (I don't doubt it for a second). There just are not any club teams out there that can compete well with a DA squad. It just would not happen (see above analogy to get an idea what this would look like). :)
So how is DA chosen? Try-outs? Anything that has a try-out process is inherently biased. That does not make them the best only the children of more connected parents. If this was not the case a country the size of the USA would have qualified for the Olympics. Because it is not always the best players chosen we lose to countries that do NOT have a complicated DA system, who pick the best players from all walks of life....period.

Very good post.As you totally understand the bias what DA clubs would yo say are totally out of control on picking DA players?

If not tryouts, what method do you propose they should use to select the best players for DA? Scout every game played in the region? Take recommendations from coaches? Take recommendations from parents? Are only "connected" parents allowed to send their kids to try outs? I don't understand, please elaborate.

For example, Orlando City DA does not offer open tryouts. Tryouts are by invitation only. Now, who do you think is most likely to get invited to try out? The kid who's a very good player but the parent is unknown, or the kid of the parent who is very chummy with the coach? Care to venture a guess? Clue: it's a real easy answer...

Why don't the DA's have tryouts?

That's what parents say when their kids don't get an invite.

They have no idea....but they do have an agenda based on jealousy. How sad.

I'm sorry the original factual post hurt your feelings. It was not meant to offend you - only to inform you, since it is obvious you have never been involved with a DA. Don't you feel a little silly thinking that there is a conspiracy going on (black helicopters and alien abductions) just to keep your kid off the team? LOL

Of course it is subjective.....what isn't? Coaches look to take/gather the best & most talented kids (in their opinion) in an area. If your kid has not been invited to tryout or made a DA squad yet.....inspire him to work harder and improve his game. If you don't....he is going to go through life like you thinking "the man" is keeping him down.
