Would love to know why you expect this
Without the academies, there would likely be close to zero American players in the league. The local pay-to-play clubs have no incentive to do anything besides try to turn a profit through club fees.

Like it or not, the training environment at the TA is vastly superior to anything else offered in the Oregon/Vancouver areas. The collection of peer talent and amount of high-level training time offered is in another league compared to the local clubs. And it's free.

All of this is in hopes they can find and develop a handful of players that are good enough to displace the talent that's available from overseas.

The TA is superior. But many people don’t like it. It isn’t easy. It isn’t your neighborhood club. It isn’t even close to your neighborhood club.

The TA is not a good idea. Sorry.

Do the Timbers still have interns reading and posting on this chat room? Maybe dedicate your energy to the Timbers instead? They look awful this year.

TA is better (by miles) than the local clubs, and worse (by miles) than it could be.

I would agree with this assessment. Until the homegrown rules are changed there sadly isn’t much motivation for the powers that be to fix the latter point

Plenty of us see the value in it.
Plenty of us have outside perspectives and have experienced soccer in other markets so we have an actual baseline
Some of us aren’t bitter that our kids didn’t make it.

Can wish the Academy the best but simultaneously object to Timbers involvement in OYSA and constant manipulation of leagues, etc.

Also given how much OYSA (a statewide organization) resources are built around the academy, its fair game to ask "is it worth it"?

Time to tear it down and start the rebuild.

The little DA shack blew over on it's own.

The Timbers. Have you seen them play. If they were a house you’d just knock it down and start over.

Nope, but i have seen Hank Paulson turn his 25million franchise buy into the MLS single entity of 2010 now hovering around 200million valuation in less than a decade.

You can knock bit you ain't getting in on this windfall.

This ponzi scheme has never been about the world sport of football.

Wood shacks blow over quickly, mansions are a different beast.

Good luck with that you big, bad wolf....

If you leaned on it it will fall over so that won’t be hard.

Don’t think the players are very good and the coaching this year has been questionable. Where do you begin? Start from scratch?
