Yes heard Bucks is getting the boot from ECNL and will be replaced by Ukies. Bucks lack of facilities, poor performance over many years and lack of a DOC are the reasons being cited.

But the argument is that the league is what college coaches want not the team. You have to play in the league, even on teams like penn or matchfit.

The argument assumes any team as long as you are in the league. As you can see that argument holds little weight When there is such disparity in quality.

It’s not the league, it’s the player.

100% agree if you take PDA out of ECNL North Atlantic the quality of teams is no better than any other league, maybe with the exception of Penn Fusion who is also pretty strong.

Nope I’m the OP and looking at the past two ECNL weekends bucks hasn’t won a game and had three blow out losses out of the six games they played. And bucks has been at the bottom of the entire ECNL the past few years. The records speak for themselves and are public for anyone that cares to look.

But But if my daughter doesn't play for an ECNL team, colleges will not look at her.

How ludicrous is this on its face.

If your daughter is a starter on a PDA Blue, Stay.Every other team in NJ is a tossup and depends on her role and how she impresses at the camps. let her play on a high level team that competes and plays good fundamental soccer.

Oriiginal poster asked if STA beats matchfit, what should you do? You stay at STA. Its that simple. no one in their sane mind goes to a team for the league. Especially if your daughter has a big role on a non ecnl competitive team

Folks, PDA and PENN FUSION are both at the top of the “food chain” as far as reputation with college coaches and those players committed each year. Penn going back to ECNL was a no brainer.

That’s awesome !our GA team beat Penn in a friendly. Glad to hear Penn is at the top of the food chain. I now feel good about my GA choice.

Key word in this post is “Friendly”, lol. Not to mention teams are not full strength until September.

The most telling team actually is Pipeline who played in multiple USYS championships who is now in the ECNL. Those teams have not had a good showing in ECNL thus far. That said, they are still better than Bucks or Delco...

Whether GA or ECNL, Coaches are always going to recruit more heavily on the top of the food chain ECNL or GA clubs. If you are stuck on field #18 of a showcase instead of Field #4 because of of your poor record, better start thinking of saving more money.

Oh, and EDP, gtfo! Your only chance is multiple years of ODP and camp invites.

In youth soccer, it's a bit foolish to make predictions (especially about the future). If you are 2006 or younger, there's no telling if GAL will last long enough to help you in the college process.

GAL will last but the question is will it transform itself for the better or worse.....only time will tell. One thing is for certain, if teams receive invites from ECNL they will jump. Which means GAL will have to find other quality clubs to backfill. Right now the reality is that it is not as good as the former DA, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be.

For sure ECNL will cherry pick the last few top clubs and that will seal the deal of GAL's competitive level. In the end it will end up like NPL was few years ago when GDA started. A lot of time, money and angst to wind up full circle in the same place.

Another person “hoping and praying”. ECNL clubs are not Dunkin Donut chains. Less means more competition not adding on lessor competitive clubs. If ECNL was interested they wouldn’t have given a spot to a third PDA team. Right now they have clubs in this area underperforming and you have parents think they are going to add more from this area? They added on the 3rd PDA and Penn Fusion that’s it! Every DA team made their pitch but ECNL is going to hold firm to their premier clubs/teams.
