In soccer this eventually is the most important individual talent. To call it a natural sense is a misnomer, though. Remembering back to the ulittle days, the natural sense is to go to the ball. Over the years, kids learn to overcome that natural sense by learning - from watching, from coaches, from playing. You can argue all day about whether a u14 ECNL player should already have that skill at a certain level, but when it is visible that it is missing from a team, isn’t it up to the coach to fix?

They were in ECNL and chose to go DA. No one forced them. So, if club politics is the problem they were part of the issue in the first place. I agree with you that their 07 team is strong. But why does it matter in the grand scheme of things whether that team stays together or not? Really, why should anyone else care? If there are kids on that team that want to play ECNL then they should try out for an ECNL club. If they want to stay with their current team then that’s fine too but the world doesn’t have to realign itself just because some parents of 13 year olds want them to play with their friends in a different league. I’m not knocking NEFC. It’s a good club and if it makes its way into ECNL that’s great. But the system isn’t broken just because there are some good non ECNL clubs/teams.

Let’s face it, JD from Stars has no interest in allowing NEFC back into ECNL.

Politics player a major role here; less market share for stars if nefc come in and begin beating stars teams.

JD is a smart man and will not put the stars brand at risk by allowing nefc back in.

I predict that the moment Stars signed on to CFC, BG at SPOL signed up for Seacoast. BG refuses to allow his teams to play any tournament that involves the Stars. He's so upset that a coach and an entire team left 2 years ago to the Stars, he'll allow his hurt feels to influence his decisions about who they mix it up with. The last thing he wants is to lose another coach, or much worse any of his top 2007 players to JD.

The reality is that the only way those 2007's have a chance to be seen on a national stage is if they come over to a club that can provide that pathway. SPOL did do the Super Liga two summers ago, but to make that happen they did a club wide raffle to raise money to go to Texas.

These parents need to realize that the longer they stay with SPOL, the fewer opportunities their 07s will have because of BG's agenda. Not to mention the fact that the game will continue to get more competitive while the 07s continue to play the same teams, yielding the same result. In a year or two those potential D1 07s of today won't be able to compete on the national stage. Hopefully it won't take that long for their parents to wake up and get their kids out of the obscurity that is SPOL.

This SPOL team had so much potential at u11 / u12. Unfortunately the club couldn’t hold on to their star players. They lost a lot of their key core players to FC stars and have been struggling to stay relevant since.

Apparently as soon as they stopped entering as many tournaments and their rankings dropped parents couldn’t get out of the club quick enough, thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

NEFC had their chance to play in the big leagues but NB made some poor decisions With the direction of the club.

They have been paying the price the last couple of years for this, stars keep picking off their best players one by one.

Their “special” 2007 group will follow the same fate.
