Amazing! This is exactly what Surf did! Partnered with some low level mediocre club in Westchester and then partnered with another club on LI and fielded a bunch of NY Surf teams as either NY Surf Westchester or NY SURF LI Academy. I bet all those Cali guys hang out at the same bar and trade stories on the easiest way to turn a buck on the East Coast!
So now you have the Smithtown Slammers and the Sachem Slammers. The only thing this does is make it easier for Lips to raid the clubs for stronger players and have teams and players pull double-duty for both clubs because their all carded under "Slammers". Not a bad scam, too bad the player pool isn't better...

The thing is, they could have combined forces and went with a common club pass without becoming "slammers". Why pay the franchise fee if LIPS is going to remain the training organization involved?

There will be no double duty or sharing of players. Again, you have no idea what you are talking about and are just speculating. Just worry about your own club.

                  Then what is the point?

If LIPS are still the trainers and they aren't combining forces to build better teams, what are they getting for their affiliation with the slammers besides a patch to put on their uniforms?

Because the Slammers are the ECNL club of the year and this opens the door to ECNL! But if Sachem and Smithtown aren't sharing players, does that mean they both get separate ECNL slots or would Smithtown field the ECNL teams and Sachem field the ECNL RL teams? Either way, this is awesome news for LI soccer.

The slammers having ECNL in California doesn't mean that Smithtown and Sachem automatically get ECNL in NY.

Apparently money talks, although it didn't talk for Surf when they went after it.
