Soccer parents are sad then. Spineless. You reap what you sow.

Early and late season tournaments are all about the dollars they can raise...has nothing to do with providing a good product. If you think differently you are kidding yourself....Half of theses crap tournaments consists of some dope sitting at a pic-a-nic table not having a clue about what is going on....Take Seacoast this week end...No on field trainers dealing with injured players, Night games were the lights go out half way through a game...yup just big old money suck in general...and the sheep just suck it up and kiss the club AQQ cuz little jonnie or Suzy's mom or dad feel there future pro player will miss out...So ya before you sign on the dotted line and shell out the dough..... Speak up! Opinions may vary...:D

They keep 25% just for giggles and they are laughing all the way to the bank...
But to some big spenders and poor fiscal mgrs, it doesn't matter. What's $4, $10, or $12?
First, a World Cup in a jungle, then an outdoor tournament in the dead of winter, followed by a World Cup in a summer desert. Absolutely nothing wrong with the folks in charge-they all came from the MBTA.

You forgot to count all the money FIFA unofficially collected in bribes for Russia and Qatar

It's New England in March: It can snow, rain, freeze, thaw, be windy, clam, warm, cold, sleet, ...

You roll the dice and live with it. The important lesson learned is that none of these tournaments mean anything. Participate if you want, pass on them if you don't.

Everyone knew this winter the odds were against any tournaments running smoothly. The entry fee was not so large that individuals would be overly burdened blowing off the tournament.

The original reason for these local tournaments was to save money by not traveling and being able to sleep in one's bed.

Most posting here are new to club soccer and don't remember the trips to Virginia to only get rained out. The experience was worse than in these local tournaments and certainly more costly.

We skied this weekend in Northern Vermont with family and friends. The conditions were perfect. Every trail was open, the lift lines were short, there was no ice and the glade skiing was excellent.

The skiing will again be excellent this weekend. Forget about soccer for a weekend and spend some quality time on slope with the family.

No grass fields will be playable. Most will be closed well into April.

The key statement is that these tournaments don't mean anything. They shouldn't even exist. Clubs should be spending your money on thing that have a developmental value, but they are not. Don't allow them to spend your money on this.

I like the idea of a warmup tournament that is just that - warm up. Low key, let the kids get some time on the fields to shake off the rust. Nothing more than that. And if it doesn't happen then no big deal. Keep the more "important" tournaments grouped into times when weather is more predictable

Gotsoccer and its ridiculous point system has permeated the landscape of Mass club soccer like a skunk on a warm, windless summer evening.
And it takes years for the stink to go away.

Good point - that certainly doesn't help matters. There are some teams/clubs who chase points like greyhounds at the track. Unfortunately you do need a good track record to get into the better tournaments/better placement in tournaments. No good alternatives for tourney organizers from far away to know what is really "good" or not.

Fight the power! No GS points no registration next year! Quid pro quo my friends, quid pro quo. The weather was almost enough to make us walk next year but the lack of GS points for that disaster of a tournament would essentially seal the deal.

Personally I don't think the should give GS points at all. If you don't play all of the teams in your bracket. How can you declare a winner?

It sure is quite fun watching the Valeo parent panicking that they may not get their precious GS points though.
