I imagine more players will follow suit due to on-line classes

you really want to do that to your kid? have them play 2 seasons at the same time

Moot point, it can’t feasibly be done anyway. HS has either games or practices everyday except Sunday. Club would be 3x a week practice and games on the weekend. No one would even be able to swing that. No serious player with any type of college aspirations would opt for HS, all would play club.

High schools will get crushed if they do this. Kids won’t play soccer at all and baseball and football players will have to puck which sport they want to play in spring. Zero chance

Looks like some of the parents from the 2007 thread came over to comment on college recruiting. Stay in your lane boys. Some of these comments are shockingly clueless

I know CIAC catches a lot if sh*t for the rule but it is there for two reasons. 1) to prevent physical and mental exhaustion of athletes, as well as making sure they have time for school work. 2) prevent abusive coaches from pressuring kids. I know exactly how our HS coach would behave and it wouldn't be pleasant. Plenty of club coaches are diks too.

Not many actually do this, at least not ones playing higher level club soccer in the spring. If they do, they’re bound to be missing practices left and right for one or the other.

So far more schools plan to be open than closed. Even CA state schools (all closed for the fall) will have athletic teams running. Sounds more like she didn't realize much of SNH is online regardless. Also of note is she reached out to dozens of programs and most had full rosters. April is very late to change your mind

There will always be conflicts with games and practices, most likely with two coaches who aren't very sympathetic. It can be done but it's rarely done. And if your grades start slipping because of it then your priorities are all wrong

the CIAC rule doesn't apply when you are playing 2 different sports
and at least 1 coach needs to be reasonable (the club coach)- not an easy conversation

Of course but I was referring to the issue of CIAC possibly moving fall sports to the spring. Club soccer players wouldn't be able to do both. If CIAC relaxed the rule it still is unmanageable for most because of time and physical limitations.

No way a kid can play competitive HS and high-level club at same time. Maybe HS soccer on an uncompetitive team or in a weak league and a low-level club team (i.e., no ECNL), but that's the only way.

yes it's too much, which is why CIAC has the rule in the first place. It also means teens dont' have to be put in touch situations with tough coaches demanding too much of them. Both club and HS coaches want 110% of you each, not a 60-40 split.
