Originally posted by Unregistered View PostCFC is most definitely scared of Oakwood. So is FSA. Not clubs are more concerned with creating B teams and keeping Oakwood out of ECNL. You sit here and say that it’s all about having coaches on the sideline and running Showcases. If that is the case then open your door and let Oakwood play. All CFC wants is a closed shop. Then they send 95% of their players to local coaches coaches by....you guessed it....CFC coaches. It’s a great set up as long as they can keep it protected.
When one of the kids was pre-ecnl (U13/U14). The coach, Magnus scheduled a game at Oakwood. Remember is being a great game and resulted in a tie but dead even. That team was CFC Aresenal and a year later, CFC reloaded with kids from everywhere.
Once the kids hit ECNL, they don't play friendly games. ECNL grind is from March to July with Sat and Sunday games that sometimes require overnight stays. Factor in Florida, Texas, PDA and Nationals and it's ton of soccer. on the rare free day, NO ONE wants another game.
Years ago, we had State cups around here. Everyone played and no one could hide. The better players also participated in ODP so you could always take stock in what other clubs had going on. Guess which club was the first to the prohibit their players from ODP and stop doing the State Cups? you guessed it....Oakwood!! As a few of your coaches and they'll confirm that for you.
CFC was dominating the girls side and one year won every cup. Once the ECNL morphed into what it is today, CFC pulled the top teams from the Cup. There was no point in throwing 10 goal beat downs on the likes of Academica and Foundation.
So there you have, you got a little history lesson. Lots has changed but a lot has stayed the same. If you live near Oakwood then run it and own it, they do a good job. CFC is in the business of making money and putting large numbers of players into college soccer. OW is just a small blip on the radar and doesn't factor. These match up are only interesting to parents who want their kid to be on the "perceived best team" If you are at Oakwood you simply aren't going to get that. This year's senior class at CFC is loaded. OW would have a hard time making it remotely competitive. Even the 2003 class which isn't great would give Oakwood all they could possibly handle. Oakwood probably couldn't even field a full team of 2003 players without having multiple kids playing up. It's the haves against the have nots.

Stop with the, “we can’t find a time or date to play, we are too busy” routine. CFC and FSA are good clubs with good players. Oakwood is in the same category and some of the smaller clubs in CT are not that far behind. Having a closed system and then ducking everyone allows you to run your mouth and never have to back it up.

Why don’t you all stfu! You guys always come on here and tell us how great you are and how much the other clubs suck. You all suck. Bunch of giant, insecure babies. Get out on the field, play the games 1-2 per year and leave it on the field. The girls will be better for it. It’s called competition. We have coaches and club directors who are just concerned with protecting their own financial investments. Why youth soccer is so broken in this country.

Vale is being very aggressive here. Can’t imagine SCP is going to be happy about this. This leaves them in a very precarious position. If SCP are unable to keep these players then they have nothing left on boys side.
