    Pathway to Pros GDA

After all the lies. After all the selling BS. After all the lackluster coaches or former Thorns players that can’t coach worth jack..

How many kids did the thorns develop to the pros.

If you count up the number of kids that quit after the Thorns academy it will give you the number of exactly how much damage Thorns have done to girls soccer.

Anyone want to guess that number?

The NWSL Thorns Academy has relied on the quality & expertise of local club coaching/training to supply elite players. Don't wish that fate on anyone. They(local travel clubs)offer zero products yet have parents write checks with many zeros. It was their circle of life...Can't wait for the reboot in 12 to 18 months.

Thorns had less than nothing to do with developing Moultrie. But you already knew that.

Forgot about her! I wonder if they have already packed up and moved back to California??

What if Thorns was just wishful thinking?

Never said they did developed her. Just didn't see her on the first team roster and figured she must have played most of her games for the Thorns DA. With the GDA gone what does she do now? She was signed to pro contract right? Endorse by Nike too? This was just my understanding please correct me if I am wrong.

She has no college eligibility since she sold that to Nike.
She has no GDA teams to play on anymore.
If she stays in Oregon I'm sure she'll crop up on CU's ECNL team.
More likely she will return to So Cal and play on a much better ECNL team down there.
She'll still get national team call ups, and start playing professionally as soon as she's eligible.
She will have the same development trajectory as Mallory Pugh, who also made the mistake of skipping college after being dubbed the next rising superstar.
In 10 years if this board is still around (can you imagine?) she will be the cautionary tale much like Freddy Adu.

Freddy Adu ! Wow lets hope it doesn't turn out like that.

Lindsay Horace skipped college. Not all pathways for all players are the same or result in the same outcomes.

College experience overall is a hundred times better long term. When these kids hit 19-20 and realize playing pro soccer isn’t that great and nobody really cares, the college path will be much less interesting.

Missing out on the college experience is sad. Little kids need good advice.

Well, that little kid can already stroke the entire check for any college she wants. She also already has access to play at the highest levels. Why would she forgo all of that? So she can have the same cookie-cutter childhood as the cul-de-sac soccer stars in your neighborhood?

She'll decide if/when/where she'll go to college and just enjoy being a student. Dumbing down her soccer experience to play college probably isn't high on her priority list.

Well she isn't playing anywhere now. No more Thorns GDA
