Now that Wuhan is no longer on lockdown Biden wants to ban travel to that city. Makes total sense.

Trump's "travel ban" was a joke - flight analysis showed that over 40,000 passengers came into the US directly from China after the ban started, plus who knows how many came in via other Asian cities. As cases started surging in Europe, infected travelers were coming in from there. The NY outbreak has been traced back to European travel, not Asian. Most epidemiologists agree that travel bans are largely ineffectual unless they are enacted practically the same week an outbreak starts and is 100% lock tight. Shutting one door doesn't do any good unless every single door is shut. In this day and age of jet travel (and jet cargo) that's nearly impossible. So then each nation has to figure out how thy are going to stop the spread via contact tracing, testing etc. The small window of time Trump got with the China travel ban was squandered. Rather than doing more to prepare the administration did little, and kept telling the country all was well.

Hence why travel bans don't work unless it's locked down in the first few days. The first few weeks China wasn't even sure what they were dealing with. Hate on them all you want for hiding it too long, but at first they just didn't know. Same with SARS - it takes some time to figure it out and by then it's too late. It's already out there. All you can do is try to slow it down and hope to eventually extinguish it.

are you advocating not letting Americans right of return?

                            New poster -

You saying expats weren’t infected with CoVid 19 but Chinese citizens were? I’ve got a bridge to nowhere to sell you.

You advocating letting infected expats back without testing or screening at airports and no self-quarantine ? Is that recommended con “policy?”
