The whole point is that it's totally okay to "stack" a team with the best players in the state if you hold a tryout and include all the clubs and towns. Give all kids a chance to tryout, not just your favorite clubs players. Include the town kids who can't or don't want to pay a club fee.
Some of those current "stacked teams" have some rather inexperienced players riding the bench so the coach /dad's prodigy can play. What I see is a club team disguising themselves under a new name and going up against inexperienced town teams. Sandbagging at its best. Not good for anyone. So get out of playing the towns to just win, and create a solid team with very good players from all over RI. If you were to looks at NEFC, Bayside, Liverpool, Bruno in all ages from u little to high school you would see that in RI EACH team has a handful of solid players and then average to inexperienced. No one club is AMAZING. If you held a tryout and included all the clubs you would give the players a chance to be together on one team and go up against other states instead of each other. It's a bit boring watching the same defender boot the ball up to the same forward in each game. Lets play some real soccer with one team with real talent against other states in every age group. Get the stacked club teams that are just looking for trophies and bragging rights out of the town soccer.

Yes, that is what we have been told. Surf Rhode Island projected launch delayed until fall 2022. Not surprising with the coaching situation and trying to start up with a difficult tryout environment.

          It's coming from straight out of a butt-hurt competing club's (i.e., NEFC and/or GPS) a**.

              A) Link? Because there's nothing on their homepage.

              B) If anyone is affected by what's going on with GPS, it's NE Surf. RI Surf is a completely different affiliate.

The poster was incorrect. Start delayed until fall 2021 not fall 2022.
Being GPS savvy, will probably still take your money.

This link should be removed! It has nothing to do w/the comment.
Just directs you to a Bayside enrollment link.

Given the comment, some might find that link helpful.

Why did Bayside put a player info link on a thread about GPS and SURF?

As a weak attempt at snark, I'm guessing.

Trying to wrap my brain around SURF. Okay so if they are taking over NEFC and essentially RI where are they practicing? Wheeler?

Surf Rhode Island Surf will consist of two regions; North and Central. The North region will be based out of Seekonk and Warwick, with the Central region based out of North Kingstown and East Greenwich. In addition to the two regions, Rhode Island Surf will also have an Elite program, offering top quality competition in both tournament and league play to the best players in the state. The Elite program will be based in the centre of the state, and will be led by the best coaches RI has to offer, with proven track records of development and success in Rhode Island and further afield.

There is a lot of fighting about best clubs in RI. I think the club with the most opportunities to play will be the best. Since Bayside owns their fields through an agreement with PCD and they are hooked up with Providence College and Bryant aren't they in the best position in RI to offer the most year round training?

Both NEFC and GPS seemed to be able to find places to train year round. Since Surf is basically those two clubs combined, it's likely they would be able to continue that. And actually, where it was two clubs vying for places to train before, and now it's only one larger club, they probably have more flexibility in use of facilities.
