College football & basketball make schools 100X the money they put out in scholarships. OMG, the broadcasting rights alone are astronomical. They will cut Men's soccer ENTIRELY, before they mess with football & basketball...hell, even Hockey makes money for NE schools. But Men's Soccer? Not a dime. That will be the first program to go...

Here are some stats for ya...
-Division 1 FBS teams can give out a maximum of 85 full-ride scholarships to athletes. Division 1 FCS programs can provide a maximum of 63 total scholarships.
- A total of 4,381 scholarships are offered in Division 1 basketball for men
-Men's D1 ice hockey programs may each offer 18 scholarships

Even if school's cut the Football Scholly's in half (which they would never do), women's sports would STILL be fine.

Anyone who understands the landscape of US soccer realizes girls soccer exists for one reason and one reason only: to fleece dads of their $$ bc they are repressing their feelings that they couldnt produce a boy. PS, boys play soccer bc every sane parent knows not to put their children in football anymore. Talk to nearly every reputable GP and more specifically any neurologist. I would have preferred my son play hoops, but hoops is made for people over 6'3", unfortunately he is not going to be a height freak.
