We had a family meeting last night about what our kids wanted to do for soccer this coming year (kids are 9,13 and 15). The 15 year has not missed soccer at all this spring so we he/we decided not to go back to Premier (hopefully something else will interest him this summer). The 13 year old wants to play and we just registered her for Xfire Select’s free virtual tryouts. We know 2 of the girls on the B team there and think it would be a fit skills wise for her. I guess she will find out by May 5th what team she is on and then we just wait for the coast to be clear to start training.
We have 2 neighbors with older kids who have had good experiences with Crossfire select and the oldest has just applied for one of Selects 10 x $1500.00 College Scholarships-it would be a blessing for that family). We just can’t swing the thousands for premier again this year and frankly we don’t want to have to drive/fly around the West Coast for the next year or so as well.
The 9 year old was the hardest. He made us put him in just about every camp around last year and is jazzed to play competitive soccer. We registered him today for Crossfire Select as well. It looks like they had an A, B, C and D boys U-10 teams last year. Its not clear how they will place kids but my son is hoping to make one of the top teams
Our family loves soccer and we figure $1500 total is all we can really afford this year for kids sports after all that has gone on. Maybe in another year we will be in a better place. Hope all of you can come to happy soccer decisions for your kids. It is a great sport for them.
