Not sure you know this but Oregon has no clubs selected to the DA. Oregon clubs can choose US Club or USYS leagues. Never will there be an Oregon club that could elect to the leave the DA for any other league. Jus sayin, you are clueless.

Slammers oldest age team won the GDA and moved on to college.

Their remaining club younger teams who won noting in the DA have been relegated to the US Club league, by their own choice.

        Nice try Genius.

Why did timbers “off port” thorns on Westside? That’s sad.

Yes some clubs move back to the minors, it happens.

              Not surprised at all.

There is too much player and parent pressure. ECNL is just a better experience and they allow players to play high school soccer.

For an Oregonian playing in the DA is almost always a bridge too far due to the talent level.

99% of Oregon boys & girls are best served in USYS (OYSA) but for that tiny minority of Girls who really want to travel all over the country, just for pure fun and play the same type of teams that are within 20 miles of their house join FC PDX or CU errr..THUSC they have teams that elect to play in a US Club girls regional league and Showcases. If you can afford it it's the same as USYS but you get to travel much more!! Since DA is not standard any of these kids can play they of course get to play in HS. Being able to play HS is the thing for this ilk!

I don't get why girls want to play high school soccer. I mean if you are elite level player, shouldn't you not care about playing in front of crowds of peers or representing your school?

I know that GDA closes to allow girls to play high school basketball. That should give them enough time with school friends.

It's interesting that they shut the program down during basketball season. Why not shut it down during soccer season? If you ask the national team players what their best soccer memory it is, most will say winning a state championship for their school.

Sorry, nobody is beating Jesuit, not even if the entire Thorns Academy was able to play high school soccer and they all went to the same high school. You are right that the Jesuit girls will have fond memories of winning state championships.

Good idea. Shut it down for high school basketball, tennis and soccer seasons. Give the girls the summer off too.

                            I agree

I think it is very important for girls to play high school soccer. Sure sometimes the team isn't the best but socially it is great experience.

                            Same with the boys

Since the only DA opportunity for HS aged boys and girls resides with our professional MLS & NWSL outfits. Far more kids are not playing in a given HS season due a season ending injury and/or academic ineligibility than than the .01% (40 to 50 Kids) who have been identified and selected to play for the elite professional youth DA programs.

Roughly 5500 girls play in the OSAA & around 6500 boys (source NFHS)

All of the kids that belong in HS are playing in Oregon HS Soccer.

Arguing that the top 1% should also play HS is merely your opinion, remember what many say the most elite can do whatever they want in Oregon. Guess what they do and they opt out of HS to play DA. It's their choice.
