We had a family meeting last night about what our kids wanted to do for soccer this coming year (kids are 9,13 and 15). The 15 year has not missed soccer  at all this spring so we he/we decided not to go back to Premier (hopefully something else will interest him this summer). The 13 year old wants to play and we just registered her for Xfire Select’s free virtual tryouts. We know 2 of the girls on the B team there and think it would be a fit skills wise for her. I guess she will find out by May 5th what team she is on and then we just wait for the coast to be clear to start training.

We have 2 neighbors with older kids who have had good experiences with Crossfire select and the oldest has just applied for one of Selects 10 x $1500.00 College Scholarships-it would be a blessing for that family). We just can’t swing the thousands for premier again this year and frankly we don’t want to have to drive/fly around the West Coast for the next year or so as well.

The 9 year old was the hardest. He made us put him in just about every camp around last year and is jazzed to play competitive soccer. We registered him today for Crossfire Select as well. It looks like they had an A, B, C and D boys U-10 teams last year. Its not clear how they will place kids but my son is hoping to make one of the top teams 
Our family loves soccer and we figure $1500 total is all we can really afford this year for kids sports after all that has gone on. Maybe in another year we will be in a better place. Hope all of you can come to happy soccer decisions for your kids. It is a great sport for them.

Thanks for the update. I didn't know Crossfire Select had A-D level teams. Wow.

Tryouts-We will not have tryouts for the 2020-21 season in the typical way we do each year.

Team formation- Eastside FC, along with all the RCL clubs, will form teams based on the 2019-20 season. All returning EFC players are guaranteed a spot in the club for the upcoming season. The EFC coaching staff will make initial placements based on players performances over the past year. There could be some possible movement after we get started up again. Your coach will be in touch with more details and be able to answer any questions you may have within 72 hours.

Registration fees-To ease the burden for families to play this season for EFC, we will go to a simple monthly payment plan. A deposit is required to start registration, followed by subsequent monthly payments beginning on a pro-rated basis when we return to play. If you choose to pay in full at the time of registration, we will reconcile anything we need to at the end of the season.

For 2001 to 2011 players, the deposit due is $240, followed by (9) monthly payments of $240, ending February 2021 (without proration).
For 2012 players, the deposit due is $160, followed by (9) monthly payments of $160, ending February 2021 (without proration).

Referral Program-New for 2020! For every new family you refer to EFC, we will reward you with a $100 credit for each child they register. Your reward will be credited to you at the end of the upcoming season.

"Referral Fees" = desperation. Thats what the titans over in the PSPL has to resort to to midway through last season to try and keep the lights on over their. also "Referal Fees" = Poaching Fees

That was my thought as well. Although I think they have done very well with fund raisers every year.

EFC’s fees are ridiculous considering the current state of soccer. Best thing families can do is wait this out and find a club/team when return to play happens. Clubs will be happy to welcome new members in the future.

EFC is an affluent crowd, they can afford it. Coaches there who offer private training are killing it. Or at least they were before the Pandemic hit.

Is SU and XF offering referral fees? Groupon?

Nothing wrong with referral credits. We all refer players to our clubs all the time anyway. Don’t even pretend you don’t!

Most clubs aren’t giving refunds or credits for the cancellation of this season but EFC want to charges hundreds of dollars for zoom check ins and online videos going into next season? Come on, man. Pay-to-play needs a serious overall. Why would anyone agree to pay these fees when there is no guarantee there will a whole season next season? HS boys play club soccer in the fall, doubt that will happen. HS girls will be lucky if club season starts up Jan 2021.

Sorry, how is this different than SU and XF?

Deposit, and then no charge until play resumes?

May 1: All current PacNW players will receive their club registration email and must complete the registration within 24 hours to “reserve” their spot on the team. At the time of registration players will be required to make a $240 non-refundable registration fee (reduced from standard fee of $425).
May 5: All non-PacNW players (i.e., players who did not play for PacNW last year) who have accepted a spot on will receive a club registration email and must complete the registration within 24 hours to “reserve” their spot on the team. At the time of registration players will be required to make a $240 non-refundable registration fee (reduced from standard fee of $425).
                          Financial Arrangements for 2020-21:

More details will be provided on our Zoom call on Tuesday night at 6:00 P.M., but for the upcoming season the club will be changing how it charges fees in order to reduce financial burdens for our families. We will also be offering a “virtual training” fee of $95 per month for the time until we are able to resume with normal training schedules at Starfire.

                            Washington Premier:

The fee during the month(s) that we can’t participate in live session, will be reduced from $240 to $80 a month which is non-refundable. More than likely this will be the cost for May, and we hope to be back in more of a normal fashion by June. The reduced fee will also be reflected in the annual fee e.g. if we can’t practice the month of May, you will pay $80 and the annual fee goes from $2400 to $2240

It is definitely a tough sell to parents and families. Clubs who managed their finances well, will get through this okay. Clubs managed poorly will suffer.

The most optimistic projections for a return of youth sports, organizers say, are by late August.

This isn't accurate. Other than the registration fee, EFC will not be charging fees until regular operations resume.
