    1. The ball will be out of bounds more than in bounds.
    2. Teams will be pumping the ball as far as they can.
    3. Westside will use their time machine and go back to the 80’s and implement a sweeper like they do every state cup for all ages and gennders.
    4. 35+ punts per game.
    5. 40+ headers per game at older age groups.
    6. ADF players at 9v9 age groups will shoot from half field every time.
    7. Semi-Finals for the 9v9 will be played on the hard green parking lot like turf at Benson. These are the worst turf fields in the area yet they play the semi’s.

What about rec center for the finals - will they put u13s/14s on large unmowed fields again? Some of the best fields around, that never seem cut reasonably for state cup.

Have you seen some of the teams out there? Quite a few coaches out there seem to be discouraging players from playing it on the ground, and it's nonstop hacky-taka out there. Looks like a volleyball match, but all bumps and sets and no spikes.

You can get 40 headers in fifteen minutes. Easy.

If we go back to the 80's then: Rockwood, ***** & LOSC are the club giants for boys. This was a time when the boys played like men. THUSC and PCU boys had some strong teams by the end of the 80's. Westside didn't exist in the 80s.

Westside and FC Pdx local youth soccer clubs were birthed in the 90's, with FC owning the 90's & Westside owning the 2000's to modern day.

Timbers DA has the mantle these days but they aren't a local youth cub and quite frankly they have made a big mess.

Amusing yes, since it's true we all smile when the goods are delivered.

+1 on ET for B03. Their chemistry is coming together and put the wood down on OPFC last weekend.

On the girls side, is there even any reason to hold State Cup games anymore? It’s so lopsided in most girls age groups that one team (that lost fewest players to ecnl/gda) easily wins the league. The state cup games are just another chance for them to embarrass the weaker watered down teams again. Just give 1st and 2nd place to the league finishers or have just the championship game for the entire State Cup. Then have all the lower teams compete in an expanded presidents cup because they aren’t premier level teams in the first place and don’t have a chance in State Cup.

CU holds the State Cup in the most highest regard for the past couple years it's been their bell weather event, which supports you suggestion is there even any reason to hold a state cup. Well said my friend.

Try explaining that to the kids.
