    '01 Girls - ECNL only

Okay. Let's look at the verifiable statistics: When you look at US Soccer's web site, specifically at the U14 to U19 girls' youth national teams, 74% are ECNL players. That leaves just 26% for non-ECNL players.

The ECNL players have top-notch uniforms, yes, but they also dominate the talent at the highest level--GYNT.

    Any questions?

Probably because Willamette isn't an ECNL club. They are only one-fifth of Crossfire Oregon (along with Lake O, Southside, Clackamas and Oregon City), and Crossfire Oregon is only one-half of Crossfire United ECNL. So I guess they could be called WUSC Levante 1/10 pre-ECNL...

Hey, were just hoping our girls have fun and get a few wins. This is not about some illusion of being great. There will be a few dads and moms that will think their dd is the next Mia Hamm, but most of us are very realistic.

The travel should be fun at a minimum.

Because it gives FCP the excuse to name their B team Navy. It's a stupid moniker.

Won't Levante players get first rights of refusal at the slots?

It has two purposes. The primary purpose is to advertise that FCP is an ECNL club. The secondary purpose is to simplify the transition to ECNL at U14 and provides a bit of continuity. The pre-ECNL team simply removes the "pre-", the Navy team simply stays as Navy and plays in the top division of OPL, as it does today, and the White team remains the White team. So simple that even a caveman might understand it :)

As for it being a "stupid moniker", the "pre-ECNL", or sometimes "ECNL Jr" name is added to a large number of U13 teams at ECNL clubs up and down the west coast. WPFC, Pleasanton Rage, De Anza Force, San Juan, Utah Avalanche, Strikers FC, it goes on and on. And is it really any less "stupid" than calling your team "Celta Vigo", or "Cypress Black", or "Levante", or heaven forbid "Timbers"?

At FC Portland all bets are off. The existing roster is only expected to make up half or less of the ECNL roster. Hoping for an influx of talent - all are welcome!

                      Tru dat.

The current U14 ECNL team is about 50% new. It's competitive soccer people.

I have a question. Why is it that people like you think they have to sell ECNL? I mean, if it's that great, it should sell itself. And are any of those great players associated with the Oregon teams, or are you just riding the coattails of the accomplishments of others? The transitory property doesn't apply to ECNL.

You're right. It sells itself. I think the "sell" is just a defensive reaction to the vocal anti-ECNL crowd on TS.

Given that the ECNL roster will be around 25, this is probably accurate. Some of the girls on the current FC pre-ECNL don't want to commit the time to play ECNL and some can't afford it. Probably a good 10 openings available at least.

You have proven yourself a true ECNL parent... no TA parents could have done that math! Welcome to our thread!
