All camps that FESA offers are extras. I've never seen a coach move a player up based on the fact they went to a camp over the summer. If your club chooses not to offer camps it's probably missing out on opportunities. While my kids have never chosen to attend one there's obviously a demand for them, otherwise they wouldn't keep offering them.
As for the FESA vs FESA tournaments, those were mostly in the lower level brackets for the Feb tournament. FESA is determined to have that Tottenham Showcase event in Feb before the spring season kicks off. At the higher levels they get teams from other clubs to come in but it's been a struggle to fill the lower levels up. There's a few ways to look at it, it gets your team some matches before your spring season without paying hotel fees to play in an Orlando tournament like my kids did when they were younger. We always went to an Apopka tournament in late January that was miserable. If this takes the place of that one on the schedule for these younger teams then I'm all for it. No hotel, no weekend of eating out, and cheaper entry (I think FESA offered partial refunds to teams that were in all FESA divisions). FESA wants it's teams to be ready for the spring season and hosting a tournament in Feb seems to be their way of doing this.

Not paying for baby sitting kickball with ugly Volt uniforms and pie in the face events...FESA parents are guinea pigs in somebody's MBA thesis...morons caught up in a marketing scam...you've been tricked, manipulated, forced to watch a 2am infomercial, except it's not 2am, with the slick pitch man with an English accent, with wearing colors for instant brand identification, social media posts, partnerships with other local products to project legitimacy... You're in a test tube, a money incubator...a sheep factory... This year they're mixed in Tottenham, next year it'll be something else, something new and whiney for you to chase after like a Pavlovian savant hemorrhaging money...and you'll buy it, and you'll beg to pay for it, and you'll defend it, and argue that (it) is the best...you'll all trip over each other's dicks to throw money at Bubb, sit in the front row at USL2 games cheering for Bubb jr,...hoping Bubb Sr. sees you, talks to you, maybe knows your child's name, gives him or her a compliment and a pat on the head for the FESA Twitter feed...You're not in a soccer club, you're in a cult, and that makes you a soft malleable jerkkoff, and I'm calling you a jerkkoff because that's what you are...jerkkoff.
Hey, this guy lived in San Diego which makes him a soccer expert. I didn't know you could gather that type of expertise just living in a city. What is the US Soccer Federation doing in Chicago?!!!! Quick, move them to San Diego and we'll qualify for the World Cup!
