“The matchup between GPS Oregon FC Bayern 03 (OR) and San Diego Soccer Club Academy-Navy (CA-S) held high importance as the result would determine the first and second spots for the 15U Blue Division. With the 1-0 win, GPS shut down San Diego’s chances of taking one of the top two spots and was able to secure second place, as well as a ticket to the National Championships. The first half was fairly even on both sides until the period of time where the ball bounced back and forth across the face of the GPS goal, and San Diego began to gain momentum, but the team couldn’t put it in the back of the net before the half. GPS scored the only goal of the match in the second half thanks to Sofia Sosa. Just as a San Diego player launched a shot that rocked off the crossbar, the ball quickly transitioned to the opposite end, and Sosa found herself with a free shot in the middle of the goal. San Diego responded well by pushing hard, and the ball came within inches of crossing the goal line multiple times, but the GPS defense made the right tackles when it needed. GPS ended up holding onto the lead and the ticket to Nationals.”

My children play for a Timbers Alliance team. We don’t hate on GDA. We don’t hate on ECNL. We don’t hate on OYSA teams. We support all Oregon girls and are proud Oregon is sending a team of Oregon girls to a National Championship. Congratulations and good job GPS 03s! Don’t let jealous, negative trolls tear you down! It is good for Oregon for sure. There is not one Oregon team (ECNL or DA) that could beat Surf’s 2nd/3rd team level of players like GPS did. Usually our teams in Oregon can’t accomplish that.

If GPS had beat SD Surf this past weekend that might be something, even it was against their 3rd or 4th team, as Surf's A teams plays in ECNL and their B team in GDA. BUT, they actually played San Diego Soccer Club, a 4th rate local club like Hillsboro Select. So keep moving, nothing to see here.

Surf Ecnl doesn't play any Oregon Ecnl teams. Surf da doesn't play any Oregon teams. San Diego soccer club would destroy any other 03 team in Oregon.

Perhaps you should figure out what is actually quality because from the looks of it, Top Ecnl teams are getting destroyed by USYS teams. Doesn't say a lot considering Ecnl is failing.

You can't name a single achievement of Fcp or cu thorns 03 team in the last 5 years..

Seriously you can't name a single one......yet getting underdeveloped and being everyone's doormat makes them the ones that can say who is good?

The SD team you call 4th rate was in the same bracket with the same roster as CU in the first legg of the competition. CU, as usual against real competition, lost. That SD academy team you criticize trounced CU and won Surf Cup, not SD Surf. CU subsidized a couple of demoted backups from GPS and a discovery player from WST at the cost of the loyal THUSC players/parents that spent way too much money for no development when they were younger. CU brings in a used car salesman who gets all cocky like he accomplished something. Even he has to realize that he was the one who was sold a lemon, or a horse with a broken legg, if you will. Thanks THUSC parents for paying for the kids who aren't as good as you thought, quit, or play back-up at their high-schools. Will you still have to subsidize the kids taking your daughter's playing time if they break their legg? Congrats on your ECNL ranking. LOL. Funny that ECNL teams aren't anywhere near the top.
