Someone is trolling, but they got outfoxed by PCU and Portland Futsal.

Since they only have two full teams they train in between eastbound and westbound Hwy 26. Between the medians

The best part about calling their teams Tiki Taka is that Pep Guardiola actually hates that “Tiki Taka” was ever associated with his Barcelona teams. He said, “I hate tiki-taka. Tiki-taka means passing the ball for the sake of it, with no clear intention. And it's pointless.”

            Sort of like GPS.

Eugene hasn't lost a single player and has gained top players due to being too far for defectors to Portland.
              My picks:
              #2 Academy
              #3 & #4 GPS or Eugene
              #5 ?
              1. CU ECNL
              2. Thorns GDA
              Big gap
              3. GPS
              4. FCP ECNL
              Big gap
              Everyone else

Next year, '03s will have to combine with '02s for GDA, so at least half of the '03s nation wide will go back to a non-GDA team. '00s will combine with '01s in GDA but they are both in combined age groups this year so not much difference. '99s will age out and, hopefully, be playing in college. GDA & ECNL will continue to be the top leagues and far ahead of OYSA. A few OYSA travel teams that play up in league & travel to top tourneys will continue to provide a good option as well.

Enjoy the beautiful game and the short time until your dd is off to college. It's over too fast.

Yes they got played, but that facility is the mother of all money pits. Portland Futsal will be extinct in the next couple years and PCU will vacate/not renew at the first opportunity.

Better do a lot of hoping if you think Thornz Asylum will put any girls in college. Never happened before in their 4 years of existence.

Many Thorns Academy players will get into college & play soccer. So will many Ecnl players and even many OYSA players. Good Oregon players have always and will continue to play soccer in college. There are thousands of college soccer spots. Good players can find a team no matter the league they play in. Leagues like GDA & Ecnl give good players much more exposure but there are many paths. The next best league will come and go but Oregon players will continue to make college rosters. They will make college rosters in similar numbers as always. Players from the now dead OPL went to college teams in the same numbers as always.

GDA coming to Oregon & the country was a good thing for all. By further watering down elite teams and further spreading out elite players, college coaches can no longer rely mainly on Ecnl. This opens more doors not only to GDA, but also to USYSA/NPL players. Choices are good. Different strokes for different folks.

Don't overlook SCFC in this age group. They look pretty good at PacNW Winter Classic. And they outperformed GPS against the same competitors! Gulp

GPS is a flash in the pan. One decent team and a hype machine to sell shirts to pad the pockets of one person.

The 03G were playing FWRL last weekend and went 2-1. It should be noted that they had a very limited squad due to injuries and illnesses so that was not as bad a result as it could have been.

For what it's worth, the GPS 2003 boys' team won the premier division at PacNW.

Didn't Eugene beat FCSC in league at the end of last season? Has FCSC added more good players like Eugene? Eugene missing best players due to injury for FWRL games.

Next girl up - or is the roster that weak? And FWRL is about a 3rd or 4th level competition anymore. Nothing to brag about.

Next girl up worked out OK this weekend...with 9 girls out, pulling from the 04 team helped. Admittedly, its a small club and losing some of the players from last year's team is not easy. But they are working hard and getting better.

And maybe FWRL isn't as strong as ECNL and GDA, but winning it gets the team to Hawaii. That sounds like more fun as a team than finishing at the bottom in ECNL and GDA.

Every team has its goals. I hope your DD's achieve theirs.
