100s of kids being hospitalized with Covid in Arizona.
    https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/hu...s-for-covid-19

Whether kids contract it from playing sports, going to school, etc.... a better way to slow the deaths and hospitalization is to take preventive measures, period. Imagine if people would have been more unified with mask wearing and not attending super spreader events, our kids would probably be playing sports now.

The study by the economist cited by the pr person quoted in that article you mentioned shows that Arizona has cumulative Covid hospitalizations of 17.2 per 100k, or about 112 among a statewide population of 650k under 20 across the span of the pandemic, such that 99.98% of Arizonans under 20 have not been hospitalized with Covid. Unclear how many of those people were hospitalized for something other than Covid but tested positive. According to Arizona’s website, they’ve had 19 pediatric Covid deaths (by contrast, we’ve had one in Washington). This in a state that has been wide open for most of the relevant time period, has welcomed travel from out of state, and has at most times had much worse Covid statistics than we have. There’s no reason to think we couldn’t take the incredibly modest step of allowing masked, local outdoor youth sports competitions like soccer without risking a situation anywhere near as bad as Arizona.

        Stop being an alarmist!

“Mortality (43 states and NYC reported)*
Children were 0.00%-0.17% of all COVID-19 deaths, and 12 states reported zero child deaths
In states reporting, 0.00%-0.06% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death”

Instead of hyperbole, how about real statistics.

And, oh by the way, the 19 deaths include those under 20, not just children: https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/e...ards/index.php

Will Washington ecnl teams be allowed to travel out of state to play teams and then return home or must they wait till phase 2 for league play in and out of state? With 5 ecnl teams, phase 2 is going to open up lots of game playing unless numbers keep rising.

All WA ECNL pulled out of the Houston ECNL event for next month already. None of the teams will travel out of state in this current phase. Phase 2 is just around the corner but HS is also starting up in a couple of weeks.

                As predicted:

literally one hour after Biden takes the oath, the WHO admits that PCR testing at high amplification rates alters the predictive value of the tests and results in a huge number of false positives

See you all on the pitch soon!

Yup, Biden in office. The world is safe and Covid no longer a threat.

Is the new strain that was in the UK no longer an issue? I don't think the media talked about it for over a week now.

Arizona is the #1 hot spot for covid in the world, probably in part because they've been doing things like hosting tournaments and acting like idiots (I grew up there, I can say it) A friend tells me rates climbed during the summer because people were socializing inside because it was too hot to be outside! Hopefully things will improve slightly now that it's the balmy desert winter

The Flu isn't even an issue now....it went away just like that.

If AZ is the number one Hot spot in the whole wide world, just let it run its course.

....but we all know, no one tests like we do.

Makes sense. Be safe, keep the numbers continuing to come down and then will be able to play. Especially with high school starting in a few weeks.

you imbecile. the reason the flu isn't a main issue rn is because of the masks and people sanitizing and staying home when sick. it isn't hard at all to see the correlation
