It is still very early in the recruiting stage and I don't expect things to really pick up until next year, but so far so good.
My question is this: a coach from a decent D1 program has expressed some interest (via the platform) and asked for additional info including SAT/Transcripts. Her profile has her GPA, but as she hasn't taken the SAT/ACT's yet, we haven't posted anything for that. Do we wait until her first SAT test? Do we post her PSAT's? Just her transcripts (all Honors classes and a 4.0 GPA). I'm guessing the coach is looking to get an early read on the test scores, just not sure how to proceed given she is only a freshmen.

Anyway, not sure how much real interest there is at this point as we’ll need to reach out. D’s PSAT’s were OK for a frosh taking it for the first time, but not where they need to be for most of the schools she is looking at. I expect her scores to increase at least a few hunder points from here with test prep and another academic year under her belt. If she had aced her PSAT’s, I guess this would be easy. Good, not great makes things more squishy.

I was at a college forum recently and a D1 coach was asked directly about these recruiting platforms and their usefulness. He chuckled, but didn't exactly answer the question. His reply if you saw it live told you his opinion on the usefulness of them.

The general rule is unsolicited interest from those sites is rarely genuine. If your kid is a super stud YNT player or has other public accolades that's one thing. Top clubs that consistently turn out good players in ECNL or DA will be of interest to coaches also. But for typical players most times coaches use those platforms to fill camp slots. They already have a list of players they are looking at that have either expressed interest in the program or have seen them play.

Also, if an "athlete" drops out after admissions then the veracity of WHY they dropped out should be investigated. If an applicant only got in because of athletics and really isn't academically qualified, but then they don't play - do they deserve to stay?

Hope there is more scrutiny over admissions for student athletes. Non-Ivy/highly academic schools should only recruit athletes that fit their academic profiles. Of course this will noynhapp because if basketball and football.

(I have a son, who is being recruited, so I don't mind what other families do/ask)

BTW, if you're going to troll a thread successfully, next time you might at least proof read your post. You come off as an illiterate. Added to your angry/jealous troll vibe, it really doesn't work so well.
