I don't understand the argument. Play ECNL if you can afford it, your dd may or may not play college soccer, may or may not get financial assistance, it may or may not help her get into a college that she might have been borderline in regards to acceptance. In the mean time it's just better soccer, more competitive. From a parental stand point, once you watched a few matches it's painful to go back watching the alternative. There is no downside to ECNL
What's the alternative?
You can attempt to do the same thing without it. I would argue ones odds of success are diminished. But it's gravy as well.
In the end, it's just girls soccer. Other then the coaches, parents and girls, this sport is off the radar. I would argue that after a few days it's even off of the girls radar.

Surf Cup was the road to a bucketful of contacts and offers for our boys team. Best bang for the buck, proved in our experience. Several more kids still could get offers if they stop being flakey.
