Missed a lot of spring breaks and memorial day vacations to stay home for the lame tournaments.

You would be much better working with a good skills trainer and doing speed work.
So you did it more than once from reading your post . Confused did you just keep doing it because everyone else was doing it. If the club you chose your for child decided to play on one of these weekends would you be saying the same thing if they were playing.

It's like some words and punctuation made a break for it. The whole post is incomprehensible.

Not sure what your point is. Bottom line is some posters with experience are giving advice. Take it or leave it. Truth is odp is getting worse & worse. Many feel like missing spring break, Thanksgiving, Memorial Weekend, etc. simply wasn't worth it. What you do is up to you.

ODP is not a waste of time if you: 1. Play for a smaller club. 2. Practice less than 2 times a week. 3. Do not have money or time for a trainer or working out with your child on other days. 4. Are aware of and unphased by the politics involved. 5. Need a cheap babysitter for a couple hours.

Missing the key vacations for not very good events is a major consideration. The coaching was the biggest drawback.
I suppose getting a few touches on the ball is better than nothing but you sure can get a lot better training elsewhere.

it's literally not thanksgiving if we're not playing futbol. or christmas, or new year's, or any holiday without futbol. if that's a problem and not the most fun ever, maybe you're not a footballing family?

(maybe. i just said maybe. it's cool either way.)

My son attended the Eugene try out weekend his first year in RTC. He had fun and there was some good soccer over the weekend. We didn't go the 2nd year choosing to leave town on Spring Break. I'm not sure why they would need a try out weekend when they've been working with the kids for over 6 months. It would be stupid for the coaches not to already know who they want on the ODP team, and a player should be chosen regardless of whether they attend Eugene. In fact, 2nd look players are oftentimes players who did miss the weekend.

You know the commitment going in and you make your choice and live with it.

Was denied based on over qualification.
