Coaches have to prioritize where they spend their time and on whom.
All local coaches (meaning most coaches in our entire region) have had plenty of free time for the past week plus, since all are done with their seasons.

High school soccer sucks. Why waste their time coming to watch bad soccer when the best kids will be playing in Thanksgiving club showcases

Local coaches go to the finals to watch local players they're interested in

Coaches go to watch players they’re interested in, they could care less about the overall quality of the game. Even in a bad quality game, you can learn a lot about a player. You’re clearly a soccer Dad and that’s fine, but stick to that and not commenting on what college coaches should be doing with their time.

PS - good luck in your “Thanksgiving club showcase”.

^^^^^ EXACTLY! And rather than sit around waiting for Turkey and Santa to arrive while twiddling their thumbs, they should be out doing their job right now in their slow season, trying to scoop local talent BEFORE they get to the showcases and have to compete with bigger, better schools that may have more money or prestige. Showcases are great to see lots of talent, but for CT D1 and D2 schools, they are at a distinct disadvantage now on the national recruiting scene as the schools and/or soccer simply don't stack up to other options outside of our region. It's no big deal for coaches and assistants right now to drive an hour or two locally to see prospects play in big games and see how they do. They can see if other schools are equally good or really bad and they can determine how good a prospect might fit into their program. The more they see and speak to these kids, in person, the more they should feel comfortable with their choices as coaches. Very few college coaches in the northeast have much to do right now, unless they are recruiting hard.

Uhhh you know UB is in the third round of THE NCAA tournament again. From a soccer perspective looking at Magnus's roster and results it Pears UB is not at a disadvantage.

Odd, I would have thought beachside boys higher, and CFC/OW girls higher. is this just for colleges in CT? or all D1 but for CT clubs? I'm thrown off by "in Connecticut"

I believe it's just CT players in CT colleges.

Based solely on college coaches speeches at clinics, it seems for the most part they don't bother with any High School games as it's hard to figure out the level of competition for a basis of comparison. Same with ODP. With the politics of 28 person rosters there are no real tryouts for ODP or HS and with turnover each year the quality and coaching can be different. So St Joe's vs Glastonbury in 2014 might be totally different than 2016 or 2018. That's just an example, I don't know either team or year. But over the years they figured out the quality of clubs and leagues and how much a club coach inflates the recommendations. That tends to be consistent. There are some coaches who need some positions for some years and may go deeper into scouting and go to some of these events. I hope your kids have a great game when they do!

This is a no recruiting period. Look up the rules.

Thanks Captain Obvious, that doesn’t mean they cannot watch games.

Really? Questioning the accuracy of your thorough investigation. I can think of 2 OW freshmen girls right off the top of my head at UHART and FU.
