[QUOTE=Unregistered;1846415]The fact that ECNL was created by clubs is one of its best qualities - no top down initiative. However, isn't there some discussion that the boys ECNL would allow high-quality individual teams to qualify?

    QUOTE]

The boys ECNL will also have elite clubs that put teams in all age groups, just like girls ECNL today. However, at least initially, there will be opportunities for NPL League champions to apply also. It all stays in the US Club Soccer universe. No OYSA league or state cup champion, for instance, could apply, but the NWCL winner could.

      NPL League Champs?
      eeeeew.

Weak leagues. ECNL for the boys will not survive.

You'd be surprised. There are some very strong NPL's out there.

They don't want the one-off backwoods teams that just happen to have a few good athletes. They want elite clubs that have a proven history of developing players for college and the pros, and are able to do this at all age groups. The Hillsboro SC's of the world with 1 decent team are not "elite" clubs so, no matter how good one of their teams might be, they aren't invited to join.
That was the original intent. But after grabbing all of the elite clubs around the country the first two years, then it became a money grab and they went after clubs that were no where close to elite. CU wasn't even a club before they joined. It was created just so ECNL would take them. FCP was elite when Clive was around, not anymore.

Regardless of what you think, FC and CU are the two best girls clubs in Oregon. If any clubs should be in the ECNL, it should be them. Why don't you spend some of your energy improving your TA or 1-horse club to the point where they are at least Rec+ instead of constantly beating up on clubs that are well organized and have the results to prove it.

The typical ECNL response. Face it, they are third tier clubs. If you want to say they are better than the other local clubs, and that makes you feel better, go for it. It doesn't change the fact that FC was sitting there all along and didn't get in until 6 years after ECNL inception and Thusc failed to get in three times and had to get Crossfire to merge with them to get accepted.

Typical Timbers Lemming response "We're tier 5 or 6 so you can't be more than tier 3". "We're terrible therefore you must be terrible too".

Grow up. FC and CU are head and shoulders above any other Oregon clubs for girls soccer. Your Timbers club isn't even in the top 20.

Your first sentence sums up the state of Girls Soccer if FC and are the two best girls club in Oregon. They don't have any record on the field of play to back up that notion ie; state or regional championship level teams. Given the diluted/polluted landscape for club soccer I guess they could be called 'Queen of the Nerds' as everyone stinks.

                  QOTN vs ECNL

Both CU and FC have history as clubs both regional and national. I think this fairly sums up how tough soccer is around the country vs Oregon. Onyx wins 4-straight OPL titles without ever losing a game with a GD in 1 season of +60ish. They win 2 NPL National Championships, but playing in ECNL they are the only team to qualify for Champions league playoffs and they may not win a game. There is Oregon soccer, but then there is Big Girl (ECNL) soccer

My kids team won the World Championship of Oregon Futsal playing just 3 other teams from withing our club NEU. THUSC is not CU, just to clarify. OPL and NPL are not recognized as bona fide State or National championships, much like our world championship last weekend, it's just a ridiculous silly made up title. Finishing 29th in unbalanced structure like the ECNL is hardly a big deal, considering two club teams from Idaho also 'qualified' for the Champions league and they actually won the mountain division unlike this team you mention. It's just manufactured manure. Back to history no girls club in Oregon history has ever won the USYS regionals or advanced to USYS nationals. So please enjoy your fantasy wins and incredible level of play.

Soooooo, CU and FC are really only any good because some of the Timbers girls had to go over there and pull them out of the miserable hole they were in so they could fill out their rosters.

It is quite literally a team effort, a joint effort!

They did beat in back to back years the USYS National Champions

Are you talking about the same USYS tournament that a few years ago if you were from Oregon all you had to do was sign up and you represented Oregon. USYS hasn't been relevant ever since ECNL started because truly the top girls teams are playing USYS.

If you play ECNL making it into the Champions League playoffs should be your goal and hopefully winning (not a team from Oregon strong enough to win). You stay happy with your Clash of the Border title

Just like my kids team were World champions last week, it didn't mean anything. Amateur teams beat MLS teams in the US Open Cup every year. No big deal.

If your Oregon club makes you pay over 10k a year so your team can travel to Idaho, Utah, Washington 2x a year, throw in a few jamborees in touristy cities you should be happy to have your daughter get to travel and see the sights from passenger vans and local hotels. It's turned out to be a great 'study hall' for the Oregon Girls as they aren't anywhere near the class of the teams in the league.
